We found a great deal for the Malpas Hotel on the gonorthcyprus website and booked in via Gary in sales, who was very helpful and even arranged our transfers. We were made very welcome on arrival by the staff and given a large, clean room that was well equipped. The location is stunning, really beautiful views and the hotel put on a courtesy bus to a private jetty so you can get to the sea without much difficulty. I took my wife and our two children to the Malpas Hotel, having found a decent deal on GoNorthCyprus.com. We had a good room, plenty of space, very clean and good sized beds. Really nice pool area, we hired a large day bed, a good size for the 4 of us and nice to get a bit of shade from the hot sun. We recently arranged to visit the Malpas through gonorthcyprus and really cannot rate the place enough. We were made very welcome by the staff on reception had a lovely room, very clean and comfy. The shower worked very well and had good pressure and we also used the excellent laundry service. The pool and grounds are beautifully maintained and the place has an air of relaxation. We've just returned from a break at the Malpas which we booked with gonorthcyprus for the third time. Every time we visit this hotel it seems to have improved, it was already very good but is now even better and we will always return. The hotel is clean and well kept, we had a very nice, spacious room that was finished to a high standard. Location wise, the hotel is somewhat out of the way in a pleasant, peaceful area. Just returned from a short break at the Malpas, it was our first time staying in North Cyprus so we booked with GoNorthCyprus as they are well known as experts in the area. Gary was very helpful in giving us all the information we needed to make a choice and the Malpas seemed an ideal mid-range hotel. Malpas Hotel had everything we wanted from our holiday, including great views, an excellent choice of food, a good location and a taste of luxury. It is only a short drive away from Kyrenia, and the GoNorthCyprus hotel runs a free shuttle bus there once a day, so we got to explore the harbour town whenever we wanted. My wife and I, plus a friend, recently spent three nights at the Malpas Hotel.I am recovering from a hip replacement, so mobility was an issue. The staff however always provided a buggy to take me from the main hotel to the Diamond Court annex, and back whenever needed.The manager also moved me to a room for the disabled, which made life so much easier with a walk-in shower, disabled person supports etc.The outside pool and the private beach were a challenge, but again helpful and supportive staff... more
We booked this hotel for our stay ,but it's way out of town in the hills and it's not very good for people who have problems with steps as to go to the pool its steps or a steep slope from the main hotel and if your in the annex it's a walk to the hotel and in the hotel you've got an kettle but not in the annex the food was average the staff were OK , the hotel is very clean and modern , but there shuttle service from what they call there beach leaves a lot to be desired ,they left five ladies stranded... more
This is my third visit to the Malpas and I always look forward to the facilities, food and relaxing pace of this resort. Unfortunately I arrived at the time of major renovations and outdoor excavation. Whilst the staff were friendly and helpful I did find the constant digging and rock breaker annoying. I suggest that the hotel website indicates if construction is taking place and allowing guests to decide if they wish for their relaxing holiday to be disrupted by excessive noise.... more
We found the best prices for our winter holiday through Go North Cyprus, who booked us in at the Malpas Hotel for a week in February. We found the hotel pleasant and finished to a high standard, with a good variety of buffet food served at mealtimes. We Spent an amazing week at the Malpas Hotel, Kyrenia unspoilt northern Cyprus. We booked through gonorthcyprus.com and they were great on the phone when I rang up with a few questions. I liked this hotel very much. The package deal was inexpensive but the quality excellent. I liked the room, the staff, and the food. We went twice to the associated sea front fish restaurant which is simply not to be missed! We arrived after a drive up from Paphos on Friday to find the request for a room close to our friends' room had been carried out - next door, excellent. Friendly and attentive staff in a light and airy Reception area was our first impression and things just stayed like that until we left after the weekend. We came back to The Malpas Hotel for the third time this year, together with four friends.We had a great time. The staff were outstanding and looked after us 100%, being disabled they could not do enough for us. The food was out of this world, everything you could ask for and plenty of it. On our stay off / over night ready to start journey next morning 29th may overnight my daughter left her cath kitson bag with her iPad ( Xmas present ) Which we left in room ) we travelled 2 hrs back next day as told was there on arrival They couldn't find it only a teddy that was in the bag so they have taken it out handed us the teddy and stole bag along with iPad also said we could look on CCTV but when we asked there excuse Was managers not in today !! I arrived on the 18 February for a 6 week stay, really looking forward to some sunshine but was slightly taken aback by how cold it was. My first day in Kyrenia was actually a snowy scene from Alice in Wonderland. I enjoyed a very relaxing 28 day stay in the Malpas Hotel in Kyrenia during the period 19 November to 17 December 2014 ..The staff were, as ever, efficient, courteous and friendly. 4 Friends booked 7 days cheep break staying in 2 rooms. We arrived at midnight well after supper , we asked for a snack which was given but one our party couldn't eat it because she was a vegetarian. There was no tea making facility for a hot drink. On entering the room there was an over powering smell of damp. I am a strong supporter of the Malpas Hotel and my previous reviews have been honest and candid about my numerous stays spanning over 5 years. This 5 week stay covers the period 19 February to 26 March 2014.I have no major points to complain about and any minor points can always be dealt with on the ground with the Customer Relations Angels or Hotel Management. My husband and I got a very good deal for a winter break to North Cyprus via GoNorthCyprus.com. The agent, Gary, was very helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my recent 4 week holiday as much as the many others here in North Cyprus. My stay covered the period 24 November to 22 December 2013. The weather was reasonably warm but a little cooler than same period last year, and we did experience a week of the worst weather ever this time of the year but that appears to have been the case throughout Europe. My wife and I took advantage of a last minute deal we found at Go North Cyprus. We booked the Malpas Hotel through Mandy, who described the hotel as a relaxing retreat. I completely agree with her! Set slightly back from the town, the Malpas has beautiful grounds and is really quiet and peaceful. Came to the Malpas for a friends wedding who's mother lives 5 minutes away in a villa. The food was very nice, rooms were clean and spacious. Tidy clean room.safe worked as it should. Enough food with waffles, pancakes and omelettes cooked freshly for breakfast. Dinner choices of food ok with fresh items as fish and pasta cooked to order. My previous reviews have covered most aspects of enjoying a stay at the Malpas Hotel so I see no need to repeat the praise and constructive suggestions previously mentioned. I enjoyed this stay as much as the many others and it covered the period 24 February to 31 March 2013. The weather was reasonable but a little cooler and blowy than the same period last year but still warm and enjoyable. Just spent 3 nights at the Malpas, what can I say, lovely large rooms (Diamond Court), good food and very friendly staff. Indoor pool cold and also the Steam rooms wan't working, again Could do with tea/coffee making facilities in rooms. You really need a hire car to get out and about from the hotel. We visited the Malpas twice this year, which whilst shamelessly indulgent of us given the current economic situation and all, was definitely worth doing. Very nice hotel with friendly extremely helpful staff. Evening buffet a little samey but a good standard. Pleased to say the shuttle bus frequency into town was improved as it was only once a day and the hotel itself was situated in a quiet area. Beautiful swimming pool in out of the way location. Reception staff not friendly or helpful - evening waiters on their mobile phones in the restaurant. Its been a while since we visited Northern Cyprus so this was a treat from my husband, upon arrival we were driven to our Mini Sapphire Villa which was Clean and spacious, our kids had a tv in their room as did we on our balconied bedroom. This was our first visit to the Malpas, after many stays at the Colony. We decided to change, to compare and sample something different in the five star category. However, apart from the super sized and well equiped rooms and a good selection in the restaurant at both breakfast and dinner, it was let down by inconsistent, sometimes indifferent service. Having been to North Cyprus on more than 30 occasions we are used to their slight exaggerations but to class this hotel as 5 star is extreme - 3 star at best and whislt they cannot control the type of guests they receive, by offering "good deals" they will be inundated with the type of person that should really be holidaying in the likes of Benidorm. I found the Hotel to be great. Clean rooms, good air con in your room, Breakfast was plentiful and lots of choice at Dinner.As a 5 Star it is let down by the staff, they are politly 3 star.The hotel is showing small signs of wear and tear but considering the deal I had to stay their I was more than happy. Our stay at the Malpas was for 1 week only but gave us a superb breakThe hotel is of a very high quality with well appointed rooms and servicesThe only negative aspect was the level of service which did not quite match the quality of the premises. Lovely hotel, greatest pool ever and rooms great.On the food side, while it was great, it was very difficult to find cutlery and serviettes and get drinks. There did not seem to be enough staff. I'd travelled to Cyprus with my family when I was a child and had many happy memories. I wanted to treat myself to a quiet holiday after getting a bonus at work so decided to visit North Cyprus as it had always been a favourite. I certainly wasn't disappointed. We found the hotel very pleasant, we arrived very late in the evening and the staff told us to go straight into the dining room, our room would be sorted out after. We were taken to the annex just down the road from the hotel i was not pleased about this as i had been booked to stay in the hotel. Stayed at the Malpas Hotel for the 2nd time as we had enjoyed the first stay in Dec 2010 so much. Another enjoyable visit but we did notice some prolific cost cutting measures which should not have been allowed in a 5 star hotel. The breakfast was not as generous this time with bacon appearing just once in the week and cooked tomatoes once also. I thoroughly enjoyed another superb vacation in the Malpas. I travelled from Manchester to Larnaca on the 29 February and took a private transfer to Kyrenia. This time I stayed for 4 weeks. On arrival the weather was a mixture of snow, hailstones, rain and strong winds, very unusual for this time of the year. Upon arrival, this hotel is very impressive, it looks good and the door service was very good. The rooms were very nice, clean and spacious and the facilities looked very good. Admittedly it was a little off the main drag, so hire a car, although why you would want to leave the hotel I cannot imagine. The Malpas experience was everything that we had been hoping for when we booked. A relaxed atmosphere, beautiful, spotless accommodation with outstanding views and a range of facilities that satisfied all the family. The food was varied and plentiful, with restaurant staff always on hand to help. A good moan is one of the defining characteristics of the British, particularly those from Larnaca who try and pop over to the bright side of the island for a few cheap, really unaffordable days, in a 5* Hotel. If you can't afford the prices, stay away! This hotel seems well overrated to us. No drinks nor food whatsoever are allowed into the bedrooms. Not even a bottle of water! Travelling with a small child, this really isn't ideal! We've stayed in many hotels across the globe and we had never come across such a strict rule! My husband got stopped at the elevators because of a bottle of water... Having just spent 3 weeks here, I feel so rested and ready for Christmas! The staff were all so helpful and polite, nothing was too much trouble. I had the opportunity to enjoy a super 3 week break in the Malpas in December when I took advantage of a Book 2 weeks Get the 3rd free on B&B and without the dreaded single supplements, which is a first for North Cyprus! Just returned from a weeks holiday in the Malpas Hotel which we found very clean lovely lounges and great surroundings. Food was varied and plentiful especially the bread selection. A great value for money hotel. Rooms clean, quiet and very comfortable. There was a very large food choice at both breakfast and dinner. Malpas Hotel – I would not stay again and would not recommend it friends. This hotel is no way near the standard of 5 star. I would give it 3 at the most. We stayed for a week and have to say they didn't even change the sheets on the bed once. The cleaning was ok but the carpet in the room had stains all over it. They don't even supply free drinking water or tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms. Because the hotel was full, we were upgraded to the bugalows outside the hotel. On arrival we noticed that room had not been cleaned properly, and a threadbare and stained rug was lying in the middle of the room. We called housekeeping had the rug removed and cleaned our room ourselves. We had a short stay whilst checking progress on our property, the Malpas was chosen as very good value for half board as we were rushing about. Stayed in the main body of Hotel on this my third recent stay. As usual the food was superb both the quality and the choice. The staff were very attentive especially in the Spa where they really work hard to look after the members and guests I think the Spa and the food are the main attractions. My husband, 10 year old daughter and I stayed here for a few days in February. It was a lovely hotel just a shame there was only a few people staying (I know its completely off season). The hotel was very nice, the staff were fantastic, the food was wonderful and the facilities were superb!!! My girlfriend and I made reservations at the Malpas Hotel (and casino) after seeing some very attractive photographs of the complex alongside its five-star rating. We booked the Malpas for our Christmas break, we had stayed at the hotel before so were familiar with its facilities. It did not disappoint us! The break included 3 meals a day and free local drinks during the meal, it was amazing, so much food! The quality and range was exceptional. We even had a traditional Turkey dinner on Christmas day. We have stayed at this hotel many times and love everything about it although this was the first time "öff season" and my only small complaint was that we found the indoor pool area rather unwelcoming. It is very bare - no colour--it's all white- no greenery or nice lighting and worst of all too cold to sit around in. Will definitely be back but maybe not off season.... more
I always stay in Malpas hotel and i reccomend it because of its high standard, very helpful staff and excellent food. I have a medical problem with my left leg and they always give me a room near to the lift so i don't have to walk far. I last two years i go to this hotel almost every month for a few days and i plan to continue staying there. Their prices are reasonable and i really every next time it gets better and better. We stayed at this hotel because it had a casino and it had a very good deal for November and December. The staff were very friendly and the hotel was to 5 star standards. It was only a short car journey away from the harbour and main town. The pool area was very nice but was closed only a few days before. We stayed for 3 nights half-board in Mid-Oct 2010. Hotel is clean and well maintained and staff were friendly and helpful. Our room (superior standard mountain facing) was large, well laid out and quite well equipped. We had a few problems with used items being replaced (soap, shampoo, etc) but put this down to a certain lack of supervision of room staff. The Malpas is a contemporary hotel set in an elevated location between the sea and mountains just east of Girne. The hotel also has its own exclusive beach club a couple of miles away which is idylic. Although the hotel provides a regular shuttle service and taxis are always readily available, a hire car is the best way to get around. We stayed there in May 2010 for four days. The hotel is really nice, so the pool, breakfast and dinner were really okay. The biggest minus: one member of the room service. We were all the day out of the room - breakfast, pool, lunch...., sometimes, when we picked up something from the room we saw here nearby. She wasnt friendly and in the end she never made the room. The Malpas opened 4 years ago and I have been coming here with my wife ever since. The hotel is very friendly. Any communication or service problems on first opening have been overcome and we have had a very good stay every visit. Get a sea view if you can and you'll also be impressed by the scenic Kyrenian Mountains. Located in the annex area, good spacious rooms, had to request for toilet rolls, and loo brush which took 3 days to arrive, closer supervision of cleaners needed. We stayed at the Malpas 1/2 board special deal for 10 days mid December while furnishing our apartment. We must first say how great the staff are, efficient and very helpful but not in your face. If you expect "5 stars" in your normal standard... You will probably get disappointed. You can not even compare with other real 5 star hotels in other countries. When my partner said he had booked a hotel with a casino in North Cyprus for our summer holiday, I wasn't very keen. Lovely hotel and adequate parking, we arrived and was taken to our room by a very helpful man from reception.We have relations who live in North Cyprus and would definately stay at the hotel again. If I could state what we didn't like it would be that the pool was too cold and that we would have liked a public telephone as the telephone calls in the room were expensive... even though we were phoning a number in North Cyprus. Arrived and was located a room overlooking the car-park, asked if this could be changed and was told that if we could sit and have a drink another room would be prepared for us. The Malpas is very well situated in a small village outside Kyrenia. This five star facility is everything I was expecting and more. The rooms, reception area, bars and restaurants are very well serviced and maintained to a high standard. Firstly I tend to believe the hotel on the third floor issue (see other reviews) it was a full house while we stayed but the the top floor was out of action.Smart new well designed and furnished block. I have to recommend this hotel wholeheartedly for giving us a wonderful romantic break. The exclusive atmosphere, and beautiful rooms made every minute a pleasure. Stayed at the Malpas last September for a late holiday for me and my boyfriend. Had a sea view room which was fab, and we spent ages just sitting in the sunshine and drinking beers! Pool was big and empty when we were there; can't imagine it being too crowded even in summer. Drinks were expensive unless you had beer. Breakfast was great - loads to eat so you didn't need lunch. The Malpas is a really great hotel if you just want to chill out and relax. I spent most of my summer break here soaking up the sun by the pool. Hubby spent most of the time in the shade with a cool beer 'resting his eyelids'! This hotel was perfect for our honeymoon. We had been before and vowed we would return for our honeymoon, and we did. The rooms are lovely and have air-conditioning which is great in the summer heat. Upon arriving, Catherine and I were shown our suite facing the sea. The view was striking with the pool, spa, and gardens below.
