This is a hotel review for Malpas Hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus
“Tranquility & Comfort, Home from Home!”
I arrived during the last week in November and departed on the 23 December. The weather during this period was reasonable, a little cooler and wetter than the same period the previous year but nonetheless enjoyable.
The hotel continued not to disappoint and to functioned in its own efficient and quiet way. There were noticeable staff changes in reception and the restaurant areas but i continued to be impressed with their enthusiastic and helpful manner. The reception staff and bellboys made my arrival process painless and quick. The room was absolutely lovely, light and clean with beautiful views towards Kyrenia encapsulating both mountains and seaviews.
The gym and wellness centre has been renovated and looks a little more welcoming with attentive staff and a relaxing tea corner. I always enjoy using the treadmills everyday with or without the TV/Music on, including the usual cooled water bottle with paper cups for the thirsty.
The restaurant continues to offer a good service and a varied menu. As ever if you stay a long period then going for the odd dinner out is enjoyable. I have been trying to train the chefs to make english pancakes which i thoroughly enjoy during a late breakfast. Breakfast includes hot and cold refreshments with a variety to please most people. Whilst the evening meals are also good and varied you have to purchase any refreshments including water ... which brings me to my favourite topic for Cyprus, Water, I still believe because the tap water is not drinkable that the 1.5 litre bottles of still water should be provided gratis at the evening dinner table or at least be charged at only 2TLr. Maybe one day?! This would certainly enhance guest relations and satisfaction. Staying on the eating come snacks side, the Mini-Bars continue to provide a variety of small refreshments and snacks but should be reduced to 50% of what they currently are. This may lead to an overall increase in sales, which may benefit both hotel and guests.
Over the winter months the hotel offers excellent deals through some of the travel agencies like mercury-direct, however, this in turn can lead to unusual types of visitors taking advantage of such deals, the moaner-groaners from the british isles, who tend to enjoy criticising and exaggerating about all and sundry! Constructive criticism is always welcome however, Anyone with an ounce of working brain tissue can read all the reviews and make up their own mind about whether or not to chose the Malpas based on whatever they wish to experience. In the end it's all about personal perspective, everything is. Change your perspective and you change your world and how you view it. Oh yes, i must not forget that A-One-RentACar provided me with an excellent car rental deal for which i was grateful.
I was grateful to the staff and management for making my stay an enjoyable one. I will be visiting again on the 24 February for 5 weeks and I intend on enjoying this forthcoming visit as much as i have ALL previous visits. I will let you know how it goes.
