We found the Colony Hotel through gonorthcyprus and stayed for a week. The location was just what we were looking for, very central with the sea and mountains in the background. My wife and I had a clean and comfortable room that we found very relaxing, although be aware that people can smoke in the hotel, so if you don't smoke it might not be ideal. Breakfast was good and varied and the meals at the pool restaurant were good too. We didn't eat at the hotel in the evening so can't comment on teatime.... more
We stayed at the Colony Hotel for a week in the run-up to Christmas to escape the stress back home, it was just what we needed. You're made to feel welcome from the start, even the doormen are polite. We had a comfortable room with a fantastic bathroom, everything was finished to a high standard. After a smooth booking process with GoNorthCyprus we arrived at the Colony Hotel and were made to feel very welcome by the staff. My husband and I had a lovely room with a balcony, tea and coffee facilities, a couple of free bottles of water each day and a very nice bathroom with powerful shower. My husband and I recently booked a week away at the Colony after finding a deal on the GoNorthCyprus website. The hotel looked great, tidy and upmarket, so we booked a break. We were impressed when we arrived by the hospitality of the staff and also by the standard of the hotel in general, everything is very clean and well kept. We wanted to stay somewhere upmarket for a relaxing break and GoNorthCyprus found us the wonderful Colony Hotel. In a good spot close to the town, the Colony is a classic looking building with pleasant decor. We had a spacious room, nicely decorated and very comfortable. We recently stayed at the Colony Hotel with GoNorthCyprus for a short out of season break. The hotel is beautiful, very tastefully decorated and our suite was very luxurious with a wonderful spa bath. We live in Larnaca but wanted a change of scenery and recommended by a friend to try the North so we contacted Go North Cyprus and spoke to Gary , who suggested the Colony. A lovely hotel, Central locationn, so quiet we overslept until 9.45 one morning. Good selection of food for meal times, staff always helpful and happy. Great happy hour 4-7' drinks reasonable price anyway.Had a massage each which was really good and exceptional value.Only thing I could fault gp the hotel on was coffee mate with tea bags and coffee which curdled the drinks, small milk cartons would have been better. All plus reviews, it is so easy to agree with these. Mum and I spent 2 weeks at the colony hotel in kyrenia, the hotel is very prestigious, staff are friendly, very very helpful very pleasant, thank you north cyprus holidays for making our holiday a lovely one, all the restaurants and bars were really nice. We were delighted to discover that dinner was included in our stay. We arrived after dinner on Saturday 8th August. The hotel arranged for Room Service to bring us a selection of amazing food. Just what we needed after a long days travel. Reception staff were outstanding and the breakfast staff were really very nice and friendly. We booked this hotel through go north Cyprus and would not hesitate to recommend them. They organised transfers from larnaca as we were arriving from Glasgow, and everything went smoothly. When we arrived at the hotel it was after 6 pm and the receptionist was apologetic as the room was not ready a technical problem she stated. Great location, this was are second time at the Colony and we will definitely be going back next year, love this hotel, rooms have been refurbished since last year which are really nice. This year there were tea and coffee facilities in the room which i was delighted with as i like a cuppa first thing. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Great service throughout our stay. Beautiful room with fabulous views across the town and out to sea. The lovely views were unexpected because of the hotels location in the centre of town. The Colony has a roof top pool and cocktail bar which is stunning after dark. Our second stay at The Colony and didn't disapoint. The management have clearly listened to previous guests comments, with the bathroom upgraded wih a large walk in shower and tea and coffee facilities now included in the room, which have also had a makeover. This is my third time trip with Go North Cyprus Holidays and guess what????I'm looking for the forth holiday. We have split our time in Nrth Cyprus between the fabulous Colony Hotel in Kyrenia and the impressive Palm Beach in Famagusta. This was our second visit ,the service was fantastic all staff go the extra mile to be of help.If we had to make one adverse comment ,rooms are being refurbished on the second floor and during our stay work was in progress ! I've just enjoyed a wonderful city break staying at the Colony Hotel in the heart of Kyrenia Town. It is fantastically located, near shops, cafes and the beautiful harbour side. An old school friend and myself had planned to go away for our 50th birthdays. We didn't want anywhere overly busy or hot for the winter season but wanted to be in the perfect location so we could enjoy our stay without having to travel. Very comfortable hotel in good location. Large room well furnished, air conditioning rather noisy and bathroom perhaps in need of updating. Staff are lovely, very helpful and friendly. Very pleasant pool area on roof but not suitable for young children. I booked a last minute stay with two other friends to Kyrenia, through Go North Cyprus Holidays. The Colony Hotel was recommended to us because we wanted to stay in the centre of Kyrenia. The hotel was in the perfect location, close to all amenities. We enjoyed our week in the Colony. From start to finish the hotel staff never failed to impress. The breakfasts were always great with a huge variety of types of food available. We found the dinner menu's a little less impressive and given the large variety of eating places in the Kyrenia area we thought the Colony wasn't quite up to the mark and didn't provide particularly good value for money. This was our second visit - previous visit June 2012. The rooms are a great size,bathrooms well lit and shower is good. Beds are really big and comfy. The Colony Hotel is an excellent hotel, great location, superb food, great swimming pool. One small fault, as other reviewers have said, 'hot' foods could have done with being a bit warmer. Restaurant staff were always extremely helpful and great at having a joke with you. I've visited Kyrenia quite a few times now, and I've been a resident at many of the hotels that the region has to offer. From our greeting at reception to the standard of the room, to the service from the staff, it really couldn't have been better!All areas of the hotel were clean and well cared for, the decor was perfect and clean towels always laid out on the rooftop pool. The Colony Hotel in Kyrenia was a first class choice, recommended by the staff at Go North Cyprus. The hotel was 5 star plus, food was excellent, the decor was superb, very clean, rooms excellent. Staff were all very friendly and made us very welcome throughout our week stay. Five minute walk from the harbour, not a problem loved walking down the little streets with all the shops. We stayed in the colony hotel and the hotel and staff were great. We booked for half board. Breakfasts were great, anything that you wanted was there or they cooked it fresh for you.However I would not book for the evening buffet again. There was plenty of choice but the food was not very warm. As it was our first holiday in North Cyprus, by experiencing a week at the Colony confirmed that we would return next year. From entering the foyer to checking out was the most relaxing and enjoyable experience, the staff were very attentive and nothing was an problem. Stayed for 1week, found one really major problem, we had to go home. Staff at hotel were very helpful, pool area on roof was busy but not crowded. My every need was met including printing my boarding pass ahead of onward BA flight to London. Staff were friendly and attentive at all times without being intrusive. The Colony Hotel grew on us over the two days we spent there. We were alarmed to find it was on a main street, and reminded the receptionist that we had asked for a quiet room - we were then given a room at the back on the 2nd floor, only to find that there were all the signs of a large party about to take place in the function room just below us. I stayed here for a week and a half in october and to be honest my family and I had a fantastic time, which was surprising as im not normally one for going away for our holidays. My Wife and I spent a week in the Colony and ejoyed every minute. Televisions could do with an upgrade, no Sky available. No tea making facilities in the room. Other than that no problems. The Mistral Bar and swimming pool on the roof, fantastic. The Gym down below was very clean with all the standard equipment, steam room, sauna. We had a great week. We had a lovely week in The Colony. The staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean, although not large. Nice buffet breakfast, just need to teach the chef how to make poached eggs!! The rooftop swimming pool was great, the pool and surrounding area wer kept immaculate. My husband and I booked the Colony Hotel for what we hoped would be a luxurious get away. Our first impressions of the hotel were that it was beautifully decorated, clean and expensive looking. We stayed here for a weekend and although the room and public areas were 5* we felt that the breakfast was not. The Conaro beach club which you can visit free of charge and get transport to is well worth a visit. We had lunch at the pool bar which was very tasty. We had gone B&B so that we good try out the restaurants in the harbour area which were well worth a visit. We have also stayed in the Rocks hotel in Kyrenia which is a much better place to stay and the buffet meals are outstanding.... more

In general the overall standard was not what we expected for the price. Most hotels like to market themselves as comfort personified, with lovely attentive and friendly staff. The Colony hotel is a beautiful place to visit and stay but you must remember that it is a town centre hotel in the middle of a busy place with an excess of high rolling gamblers and impressing the local glitterati. Wonderful ambience and very attentive staff at all levels. We live in Turkey and speaking a little Turkish may have helped in this respect. We stayed in the Colony Hotel for 2 nights. The rooms were fab 2 TV's, 2 Mini-bars, internet access the facilities were faultless, the staff were very polite and friendly and the food was fantastic. The pool area was very relaxing and the roof bar had great views. We stayed in the colony for 4 days. First the positive things: Excellent located in the city of Kyrenia, large rooms with first-class furniture and outstanding breakfast. But unfortunately there were some issues which avoid to feel us comfortable: Horrible prices at the Mini bar (€ 10,-- for 0,25 liter vitamin drink), striclty forbiddance to take any mineral water to our room (if you try the hotel staff stops you and withdraw water) and some of the waiters are arrogant (if you are not a VIP).... more
Stayed at Colony Hotel. Very good except for the prices in their bar which was always empty because of the high prices. Why pay 12 TL for a beer when down the road it was 3. The Colony Hotel is right in the centre of Kyrenia, really easy to simply walk out the door and explore. Lobby areas, lounges and bars very smart, glitzy feel, a touch of glamour. with few exceptions this hotel offered all the amenities you come to expect of a five-star. The location is great, only a few minutes walk to the Harbour. The hotel lobby is grand and luxurious-looking with mostly helpful staff waiting to attend to you. After escaping from the Oscar "resort" we were very happy to arrive in a real hotel environment. This hotel is obviously very popular and with good reason-great pool, restaurant, staff, rooms, nothing too much trouble, definitely go back! June and I stay in hotels of various sorts all over the world. Its not unusual to find that the bigger and more expensive they are, the harder they fall. Not so this gem. We had difficulty choosing a hotel for our New Year break in Kyrenia, but eventually we decided on the Colony, and we're glad we did. My husband and I travel a lot for business, so we like to check in and chill out with a minimum of fuss. Loved the Colony Hotel. Met some great people here, five star rooms, breathtaking lobby straight from the Arabian nights and the hotel is right in the heart of Kyrenia. It was all we wanted. We spent two weeks at this hotel, and cannot find fault with the place at all. It is next to a Casino, which is not a problem, and right in the centre of Kyrenia – just step outside the door and you are right in the heart of this charming old city. We came here to explore the whole area and found many wonderful places and some incredible ruins. The Abbey at Bellapais was one of our favourite places to walk to.
