The Malpas hotel is a very impressive place to stay at but it isn't quite a 5 star European standard. It turned out to be a fantastically clean and well run place with very friendly staff and clearly a caring management. This is the second time we've been here and both times we ate in regularly and the food was a high standard and we were especially happy and pleased with the high standards of hygiene in the food areas. There is also a casino on the complex and non residents flock in by the droves on weekends. You can imagine the type, young pretty women and rich elderly men looking for a bit of gambling excitement. This wasn't a problem at all and there was nothing to complain about. We tried to go out in town for the evening one night but did find it pretty disappointing to find that the last return bus is at 16.30 hours which is obviously far too early for an evening meal or a few drinks in the bars dotted around. There is always the taxi option which we decided to use that particular time. When out in restaurants and bars do remember that its cheaper to buy wine by the glass rather than bottle. Im not sure why but that's just how it works there! One specific negative I feel I have to mention is the influx of cats! Really, there are hundreds of them all over the place, although this doesn't seem to bother anybody else, if like me, you aren't too fond of our feline friends, this might be a cause for concern. All in all we had a lovely time here and the hotel was excellent for our needs. I'd say give it a go!
