I visited the Dome Hotel on business and was very pleased with my stay, everything was top quality from the sleep quality to the breakfast each morning. It was my first time staying at the Dome, which I booked through the gonorthcyprus site. Gary arranged everything for me including transfers, which I was very happy with, and the price was good. I had a great sea view from my room and the bed was comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. The location is ideal for getting around without having... more
We chose the Dome Hotel because of the reviews on the GoNorthCyprus website, we were looking for somewhere with traditional values in terms of service and we definitely got that at the Dome. The hotel has a great location, you don't need a car to get around which is convenient, great breakfast and very friendly staff who make sure you're well looked after. The hotel is quite traditional but the guests we spoke to had been going for years so it just goes to show that plush surroundings still don't... more
This was our second visit for us , right in the heart of the harbour, the room very comfortable with a lovely seaview, vey lucky to have breakfast in the sun on the terrace, with the fall of the Lira rate it was very cheap top eat out thought we didn't stray far from Niazi's opposite the hotel, a comfortable recharge of batteries before the onset of a cold UK November! . Next time we will hire a car and explore the karpaz , It was only after booking that we saw that the company that we booked with... more
I took my wife for a week away at the Dome in August, we booked with our agent GoNorthCyprus who always get us a good deal when we visit the region. This was our first visit to the Dome - a great hotel, traditional style and right by the sea. It's not the most modern of places but it's been around for decades and it has its place. We visited on the advice of friends and enjoyed the plentiful breakfast each morning, the high standard of cleanliness and the efficient service. Wonderful sea view and... more
I would like to thank gonorthcyprus for finding us this absolute gem of a place. Having stayed in the region before, we wanted a quality hotel at the right price and found it hard to meet this requirement in the past when booking on our own. We decided to involve the experts this time and it's a good job we did, gonorthcyprus recommended the Dome Hotel and we really did have a superb time. The hotel is clean and well kept in a fantastic position by the sea. Very close to the harbour and town, it... more
We've stayed at the Dome a couple of times with gonorthcyprus.com, it's in a great position and has a lot going for it. This time was no different from the last few occasions - our room was very clean and comfortable with a great sea view, the staff made us feel welcome (as always) and the food is always fantastic at the Anchor restaurant. The hotel has a traditional feel - perhaps it could benefit from a bit of a facelift but don't let that put you off, it's mainly the bathrooms that could benefit... more
We spent a long time deliberating about where to stay before choosing Dome Hotel on the GoNorthCyprus site. We're so glad we did, the setting is superb and the food is outstanding! We read that the hotel had been around for a really long time and that was a benefit in our opinion, so we decided to trust the longstanding reputation and history and don't regret it a bit! Our room was comfortable with a balcony so we could see the beautiful sea below - stunning. Also very quiet up on the third floor.... more
We'd heard mixed reviews about the hotel but Gary at Go North Cyprus reassured us that we'd picked the right hotel , It is right on the seafront , we chose a room with Sea view and glad that we did.Being in the centre we didn't have far to walk and found ourselves returning to the same bar in the Old harbour each evening , the people in North Cyprus are very friendly and welcoming, never felt anything but relaxed there , would love to return in the summer months .... more
This was a last minute holiday and for the price we done well, I booked online with Go North and the confirmation email arrived less than 12 Hours later, at stansted we simply handed in our passports and they gave us the boarding cards , although there was a touchdown in Turkey we didn't have to change airplanes ( Like we have had to in the past with Turkish Airlines). We normally stay at a friends Villa in the back end of beyond, so it was handy to be in the centre of town , The Dome Itself is an... more
As always, it depends on what you're looking for ... The Dome is an old colonial style building, with rather tired décor, but in a great location for the pretty harbour and the shopping area of Kyrenia. The Hotel is clean, with good food. Our large room was serviced daily. Dome has lovely helpful staff, and a multi-lingual front desk. Our beds were very comfortable, but the pillows were another story! They were VERY hard and unforgiving. The two somewhat lacking elements are the tired décor -... more
We were impressed by pictures of the Dome Hotel during the booking process on the GoNorthCyprus.com website, so we knew we were in for a treat when we arrived. The hotel occupies an excellent location, with the sea right on its doorstep. We checked in and unpacked in our large and comfortable but somewhat old-fashioned room and headed outside straightaway, keen to explore the hotel's external area. Fantastic views, three swimming pools and plenty of sun beds with towels, well, we stayed outside... more
The Dome Hotel, the Grand Old Dame of Kyrenia is in the most favourable position possible. Near to the harbour and the centre of town, this once first class hotel has lost its way.The building is rather tired and it's management is non existent. The idea of someone checking that things are working and are in good condition seems to bypass the thought process of the management. Room telephone that did not work, broken furniture, missing plugs, broken room safe to name but a few. I must however complement... more
When discussing a hotel, particularly those in the Mediterranean, age isn't often considered to be a selling point. In the case of the Dome Hotel in Kyrenia, however, it becomes a very important characteristic: when it was built around 70 years ago, the hotel secured for itself one of the finest pieces of real estate I've ever visited. When I booked up with Gary at Go North Cyprus in November (look them up, they were a great help) I had already seen pictures of the place, surrounded as it is on three... more
This hotel is a very nice hotel on the seafront with three pools one being a fresh sea pool, room with sea view you can see down to the harbour, it's not a modern hotel (built in 1939) but a wonderful location with very pleasant rooms, rooms are a little small but clean and the staff are very helpful breakfast is plentiful and caters for very ones tastes.Booked with Go North Cyprus and every thing was good from start to finish taxi waiting when I landed very pleasant drivers both ways will use them... more
The hotel is in a superb location. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We have been for the last three years and hope to go next year. We ask for the same room because the balcony has no sun during the day (ideal for me) and overlooks the sea. The Anchor Restaurant on the sea is very good and the dinner in the hotel restaurant is also very good value. There are numerous restaurants and bars in the vicinity and a couple of "ex pat" bars within easy walking distance. We walked... more
We stayed at the Dome hotel for 2 weeks. Breakfast had a good choice but only served melon as a fruit need more fruit, this has been said before but no notice taken. Otherwise it was fine with much choice. Many people have returned over many years which speak for itself. It is greatly in need of refurbishment but having said that our room was fine, sea view, small bathroom but a very good shower, always worked well and plenty of hot water. Towels changed daily which is somewhat unnecessary but that... more
We stayed for 10 nights at the Dome hotel. Great location minutes away from the harbour with plenty of restaurants close by. The room had recently been updated with a great view from the small balcony. Beautiful pool and sunbathing areas close to the rock pool, with the adjacent restaurant (by the rock pool) having fantastic views of Kyrenia. The terrace overlooking the pool was a great place to relax after sunbathing or a wander around the shops. We only stayed bed and breakfast which had plenty... more
We had 2 nights stay with our family in the dome hotel, it was a great location over looking the sea, plenty of restaurants and shops on the doorstep, clean spacious rooms a little dated though, the only thing was the beds being very hard and uncomfortable, very friendly and helpful staff, big pool area with lots of sun beds lots of choice at breakfast, could have done with more fresh fruit. Also it had a free car park right next door to the hotel, would return.... more
We stayed at the Dome 6 years ago. Great position but feeling a bit neglected then. It has improved significantly. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the whole place looks cared for. Only stayed b&b as there are loads of restaurants around. The area towards the sea is the best that we have seen in several years of visiting Cyprus. Everywhere in Kyrenia is walkable.Only real down note was that there is not a gym - despite indications on the website. It is still a superb position.... more
You can't fault most of the staff at this hotel, they are really helpful and friendly. Two people in particular stand out. The very slim, well spoken waiter who went to Oxford to study and the larger more mature gentleman with the goatee beard on reception. We didn't get their names but they are obvious because of their helpfulness and approachability. We were disappointed with the lack of knowledge the staff had on tour availability and although there were several tour operators boards stacked... more
I don't have a huge amount to write home about after staying at the Dome Hotel; whilst in a fantastic location, in the centre of Kyrenia, the actual hotel is a little lacking in most areas. The Dome Hotel is right next to Kyrenia Harbour which is brilliant for guests wanting to explore or to dine out (like we did.) Kyrenia is a beautiful historic town so in all honesty, not being too impressed with our hotel wasn't a big deal because we didn't have to spend much time there.I couldn't fault the friendliness... more
Just returned from a seven night stay. We paid a little extra for a seaview room with balcony, Really worthwhile particularly if you are visiting soon - roadworks outside front of hotel which make it very, very dusty - likely to take seveal months. Did not affect us, but would not have been happy if our room was facing the town. Your are literally next to the beautiful harbour.Lovely old hotel with extremely friendly and helpful staff. Well kept and clean, although as I have read elsewhere slightly... more
Great location, lots of bars and restaurants around the corner. The sea view room was nice, bigger than expected, the bed was comfy, the bathroom was fine.I expected the grandeur to be more faded but all the areas we saw were decent, no damp in evidence! ( Considering its an older hotel built in concrete by the sea)The rock pool was disappointing but was being refurbed for the summer, breakfast was dodgy unless you like unidentified meat and orange cordial. Can recommend.... more
We were told it was `an old hotel built in the 1930`s` , and having just stayed at the Strand Palace Hotel in London, we wondered what we were going into......what a revelation...wide corridors, large rooms, high ceilings, plenty of marble, showers that were easy to operate, (even my lady found it so)...(smack round the ear)..very courteous staff, always willing to help, had a very enjoyable week.......`gonorthcyprus` a delightful company to deal with ..and check out the `Six Brothers Restaurant`... more
The Dome hotel has an excellent location, but the tired decor lets it down, and even more, the staff who make you feel you are a nuisance if you want any sort of service. Some staff training urgently needed. İt is the guests who pay your wages!! Also, in this modern age, internet is essential. At Dome it was difficult to access, and the staff unhelpfulThe Dome hotel has an excellent location, but the tired decor lets it down, and even more, the staff who make you feel you are a nuisance if you... more
My family chose the Dome Hotel for its location. We've been to North Cyprus before and loved Kyrenia over any other place. We wanted to be right in the heart and Gary from Go North Cyprus gave us a wide choice of hotels within the locality to choose from. The Dome Hotel proved to be the best value for money and we liked the fact that it is marketed as having old fashioned charm. We are really keen on history. We couldn't have been more spot on with the hotel's location, as we were so close to the... more
Location could not be faulted, public areas were satisfactory, a delightful swimming pool. A lovely sea view was super from the bedroom window. But with regards to the bedroom and bathroom ? The bedroom was very clean but was in need of redecorating, the bathroom was certainly in need of a lot of attention. The bath panel was not secured, stained flooring and bath with shower attachment needed replacing. The staff were very friendly and approachable. There was a good variety of salads and desserts,... more
I stayed at the Dome for 5 nights in a sea view room. We had a room on the 4th floor at the side of the hotel overlooking the army barracks. Without a doubt the best thing about the Dome is the location and the stunning sea and sunset views. The hotel is located right in the heart of Kyrenia and just 5 mins walk to the beautiful harbour, which is lovely at night. The pool area is nice and this leads down to the sea which you can swim in. Breakfast was ok, a good selection but the quality of the... more
Having previously checked out the Dome as far as possible , it more than matched our expectations.Being somewhat off season it was quiet - although occasionally some revellers from the Casino would make their presence felt. Its location was unrivalled being close to the town, harbour & castle - all just minutes away.Staff were always friendly & courteous. We chose "B & B" and again breakfast exceeded our expectations - such a wide choice on offer & popular with lots of diners. With one exception,... more
After a hectic Christmas working the entire time, my friend and I decided to treat ourselves to a last minute winter holiday in the sun. We searched around quite a bit for a place that would offer a bit of entertainment, whilst still allowing us time to relax. We found the Dome Hotel and it seemed perfect for just that and in reality, it was as good as we'd expected. We had read mixed reviews about the hotel but since we've stayed there, we really don't have a bad word to say about it.The room we... more
The Dome Hotel, while geographically in a perfect spot for the very pretty area of Kyrenia, is desperately in need of some refurbishment. It reminded us of fawlty towers in so many ways. The rooms were spotless so cleaning was not an issue but the tiles were hanging off in the bathroom, every time you turned the tap on it would come off the basin in your hand, the beds were really hard, the pillows even harder, the air conditioning just threw the air around so it wasnt really air conditioning,... more
The Dome must have been fantastic when in its heyday but now needs huge amounts of money spent to upgrade to today's standards. Plus points - friendly staff, very clean, always had hot water (although other residents said they didn't have hot water). Minus points - bathroom extremely scruffy, air-con was just really a fan which moved the hot air around the room, pillows as comfortable as sandbags!... more
The Dome has very good public rooms, is spacious, well equiopped, stylish if a little dated, has a good breakfast buffet - and is in a really great and unbeatable central liocation in Kyrenia. Swimming off the rocks in late October was a treat! A sea view room is worth the small extra sum. We thought that the rooms - small but perfectly comnfortable - needed some more regular checking to see that things worked properly before being let out. We may have been unlucky, but number of minor aggravations... more
Most staff are very poor when dealing with customers, bar service is almost non-existent.Frequently not enough staff on duty in the restaurant, tables not cleared or made up.Air conditioning is poor, room controls disconnected and allowing for on / off operation only. Four nights of being too hot elicited a daily response of " the air conditioning is working satisfactory" from the front desk.Plumbing fixtures, taps and flushing unit were loose and mould was very noticeable at many of the tile joins.The... more
The Dome is a very pleasant, slightly older Hotel. It is clean with all the trimmings a modern traveller requires - air conditioning, bar, pool etc.The sea views are stunning, having the waves breaking right under your balcony is fabulous! The jewel in The Dome's crown is their Staff, who are always cheerful, always helpful - even to getting me a taxi at 05.45 hrs when the one booked by my travel agent failed to appear!... more
Very friendly and helpful staff. The sea view rooms are better than the mountain view ones - quieter and lovely views. It would be nice if they had coffee/tea making facilities in the rooms. Breakfast was very good - plentiful buffet with lots of choice , plus the chef cooking eggs to order.Very convenient for walking to the Harbour and the shops. Smallish, but secure, parking area behind the hotel.... more
A fine hotel in a fine position with only its swimming complex between it and the sea. Go for a sea view room as they face north and in this very hot climate, that is absolutely necessary! All the plentiful staff were very helpful at all times, particularly to my disabled wife.Breakfasts were excellent, and the individually cooked fried eggs and omelettes etc. very acceptable indeed. It was perhaps a pity that dinner too was always a self service buffet, as the good quality and varied food was at... more
We arrived late in the evening and found our room balcony actually sat over the sea - wonderful. However, the first 2 nights were spoilt by a local disco which meant doors closed and aircon on. We did not use the hotel restaurant or bar (beer was twice the price of that out in town) but the swimming pool and sea pool were excellent and served us well as it was too hot to wander. Clean linen and towels each day were appreciated. We were booked in for 9 nights and there were four weddings over this... more
The Dome Hotel is situated right at the heart of Kyrenia town; it is just 5 minutes walking distance from the magnificent Kyrenia Harbour and approximately 30 minutes drive from the Ercan airport and around 90 minutes drive from Larnaca Airport (which is where we arrived into the country). I took my wife away for our anniversary late last summer and chose the Dome on recommendation from some friends of ours and booked through a very helpful lady called Sue at 'GoNorthCyprus.com'. (If you want it... more
The hotel was in a fantastic setting with an easy stroll to the harbour. The sea views from the rooms were uninterrupted and the staff were very frienly and helpful. The hotel's decore was dated - like stepping back thirty years but its charm was that the pace of life was also in keeping with another era!Whilst we were there some problems arose with the plumbing - flooded bathrooms and the smell of sewage made some rooms uninhabitable but the staff were super and we were moved to another room without... more
These days, there's quite a lot of options available if you're looking for a hotel in Northern Cyprus. Fortunately, that means that the standard of accommodation is much higher than it might have been a decade ago when tourism in the area was much less common. We chose the Dome as it was a recommended Hotel by GoNorthCyprus (the booking company we used) because of its proximity to the Kyrenia Harbour, which we'd seen in pictures looking very pretty indeed. The Dome is also right on the seafront... more
We went on holiday to Kyrenia, and decided to visit some of the other hotels just out of curiosity. We have stayed at the Dome before, but that was many years ago and back then we were not very impressed, and unfortunately it doesn't look as if much has changed. In fact, it has got worse. The Dome is located on the sea front close to the old harbour; there have been many changes to the hotel but not for the better I'm afraid. The outside of the hotel looks like a dirty old factory on an industrial... more
The Dome Hotel is in a great location if you want to be right by the Venetian harbour but not quite on top of it. I stayed in a sea-view room on the ground floor and the view and the balcony was just wonderful and I'd strongly recommend these rooms for the view alone. In the summer, it would be perfect for a quiet glass of wine with or without friends. The reception staff, with one exception, were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. That for me is where the good points end. The room next door was... more
I had a fantastic stay at the Dome Hotel in Kyrenia in mid-November. Although the hotel does not look too impressive from the outside, its interior is simply astonishing and its location is perfect to discover the region. The hotel was extremely clean (I am German :)), the staff extraordinary friendly (going the extra mile), the breakfast buffet exceptional (including a selection of ten varieties of Olives) and the flowers were changed every day. Unfortunately, I only stayed for four days, but I... more
The Dome is very handily sited on the seafront just a 100 yards from the harbour area and the shops. Aspects of it are somewhat dated (eg some of the bathrooms are small and not very user friendly - this does not refer to ALL bathrooms). The bedrooms themselves are well furnished and comfortable. Staff throughout are efficient and friendly and breakfast is an excellent meal - well cooked and served in buffet style. My wife and I have had two visits over the lst 2 years and will certainly... more
The Dome is old and owner / run by the staff and they do a good job. Our room was clean with a beautiful view over the sea and pool area..the bar staff were very good, and the food as good as you needed. All in all with its excellent location and good room rates its hard to beat as you do not need to hire a car to get around Girne. Most of the staff have been there years and have seen it all and do not get fazed AND tell you the truth which is a good thing in the hotel business!!... more

We visited northern Cyprus in June and we loved our stay at the Dome Hotel. Unlike some others, we appreciate the great architecture of this older hotel that was built in the 1930's. Yes, it's dated, but the walls are so thick that you never hear noises from the corridor or outside. You can't say that about most hotels these days! Our room was clean and we had good working air and the bathroom fixtures all worked well, so as far as I'm concerned, it's a prime hotel. It's located in the Northern... more
This is an older hotel situated in the heart of the North Cyprus town of Kyrenia, only a short distance from the harbour. It was built in the 1930's and it shows it's age in places but on the upside, the walls are solidly built – much better than they do today in modern hotels – meaning that when you are in your room, you never hear any noise from the street or from other rooms. The rooms at the Dome Hotel were kept clean and the service was excellent so even though the place could use a little... more
I stayed at The Dome Hotel 4 nights in June. It was very clean. Food was excellent. Sea view rooms were very quiet. Internet was working very well all the time. However, the safe where I was supposed to put my belongings wasn't working and I had to out some personal styff at the reception. Unfortunately, most of the receptionsts were not that friendly as they consistently looked very stressed out which was quite unpleasant. Otherwise, things were generally smooth.... more
I stayed in mid-June 2011 and found the hotel to be, although in need of a lick of paint here and there, very pleasant and perfectly situated. I had a great sea view (and they have covered the roof of the dining room with astroturf!) The breakfast was good and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again.... more
we booked the dome hotel for a 4 night stay because all other hotels were fully booked !!!!!we now know why the dome was available. Our room was with a seaview which was very nice, the room was not upto the standard of a 4 star. noisy air con, hard beds that must have been from when the hotel opened in the 30's, the safe did not work, we asked at reception several times for someone to check it, but it never happened. When you flushed the toilet it sounded like the cistern was going to dropped off... more
This is our fourth stay at this lovely old hotel. This place was built a while ago, so it's not as modern as some, but if you like architecture and love the old style of hotels, look no further. The Dome Hotel is fabulous! They have updated some things a couple of years ago so it's not completely outdated but you still get the feel of being in a historical-type atmosphere. The Dome is surrounded on three sides by water, so pretty much everywhere you look, you see ocean. My wife and I think... more
We had the unpleasant experience of having to stay one night at the Dome until a room was avaialbe at the Colony. Terrible place, awful room, dirty bathroom, old building in desperate need of rebuild. There are fantastic hotels in Kyrenia and there is no need ot stay in a dump like this. There is no excuse in this day and age to endure hotels like this on a holiday. If I had booked ot stay here I would have been most dissapointed.Poollside is OK, but the whole place has a concrete jungle look about... more
The staff and location of the Dome Hotel were fantastic. Taking into consideration that the hotel is very old I would like to recommend that they invest in new pillows and blankets. I would definitely put only three stars on this hotel. The water pressure was good and the bathrooms were clean but quite old. The room had a very musky closed smell that didn't go away even with the doors to the balcony were left open. The breakfast was just okay, nothing special. The best thing about the hotel... more
We stayed in the Dome for a week in November and thoroughly enjoyed our visit -this is the fourth time we have stayed at this hotel. It is ideally located being only a short walk to the harbour where there are many restaurants and bars right on the seafront. Kyrenia also has numerous shops. This is an older style hotel which has been refurbished in recent years. The bedroomsare nicely decorated with comfortable beds and lovely seaviews. You can occasionallysee a turtle swimming past!Breakfast... more
The service was OK, but the breakfast left a lot to be desired, not a lot of choice, no criosants, jams etc and you were left to your own divices. No waiter service at the table, outside or inside. The outside area was really dated and could do with a facelift, the smell from the outside toilets next to the swimming pool was quite strong and needs cleaning daily. No English TV, however, would consider staying again.... more
Here's our review of our stay at the Dome Hotel which we visited in early September. My friend and I had been charged around about £110 per night for 4 nights stay at the Dome Hotel. Im very sorry to say that I was less than impressed from the very outset. When we arrived I was quite shocked to see that this is a four star level hotel. At first i thought id read it wrong but no, it is infact a four star. The hotel itself is way too shabby and in need of too much improvement to believe its an actual... more
We had a room with sea view on the fourth floor. It was quiet and comfortable and the staff always very helpful. The location of the hotel is ideal for seeing the harbour without being located in it, particularly in the evenings. The breakfast and bar are good and the swimming facilities excellent and very clean. One small concern; the aircon needs an upgrade. It sounds like it is working hard but with little cool air being pushed out.Overall, very happy. I would recommend this hotel and stay... more

We stayed at the Dome in June 2010. Our original stay was planned for 10 days but lasted only 3. You can't beat the location - right on the sea front and close to the Marina for a stroll in the evening. The front of house area is fine - clean and tidy - and the pool is excellent. Food is average to low - pretty ordinary and not that hot, but plenty of it. The rooms are very tired - carpeted instead of cool tiles. The hairdrier is scary - the hotel has broken the casing of the host socket and hot-wired... more
The Dome was just as I remembered it 50 years ago but with the expected changes to bring it up to 2010 standards. I was very impressed by the way that successive managements have cared for the old girl since the days when it was perhaps the only hotel in Kyrenia. Your caring and attentive staff are obviously trained well and are a credit to the hotel. You could make more of your long history.A nostalgic and happy stay in Northern Cyprus - try not to change thingsJohn Francis OBE... more
As in previous reviews, the location of this hotel is currently second to none in Kyrenia. We arrived late on Saturday evening. Our room, number 403, was very small, dismal and quite dated although we did have a sea view. In the light of day, you could see that the room had seen far better days and it was very tatty. We did not expect the hotel to be 4* by UK standards but we felt as if we were staying in a hostel. We opted for the half board option. The food was buffet style and the food... more

The Dome Hotel was all I could have wished for. My room overlooked the sea, and I was lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves breaking below me. A comfortable room, newly refurbished, a delicious buffet breakfast made all the better by helpful waiters who served me at my table because I find it difficult to walk without my stick - but the highlight was the seawater swimming pool, with its easy to manage steps, which meant that half my day was spent in the sea! It had long been my wish to visit... more

We agree that the hotel is in need of some refurbishment but there there was a lot of work in progress. The staff went to a lot of trouble to satisfy any request. Our room was comfortable and kept very clean; fresh towels and sheets each day. One critism was that the air conditioning was turned off. They said it would be turned on in May. As we were there during a hot spell it was difficult sleeping at first. There was lots of space to reax either on the terrace, by the pool, or in the indoor lounges... more
The location is fantastic being only a couple of minutes walk from the old harbour, the staff were helpful, pleasant and efficient. We had a room overlooking the sea, clean and a good size with fresh bedlinen every day.The food is buffet only but there is a wide selection to choose from and it was all very good. We were there for just a short break but I would certainly go again. The hotel was originally built in the thirties and some parts of it are showing their age but there is extensive renovation... more
I stayed at the hotel 20-27 January 2010. The first impression created was not good as paint was peeling off the building prior to entering reception. Once inside carpets were old and stained. The receptionist was pleasent but had to walk up 3 flights of stairs as lift was out of order. The room was small but adequate but once again in need of renewal from carpet, bed to bathroom fittings some of which were rusty and waterflow was weak. In their favour is that the room was clean and kept in that... more
My family and I tend to travel abroad for our holidays as often as possible as both my husband and I have decent jobs and want our children to see as much of the world as possible, so we very rarely go to the same place twice, let alone twice in two years! I'd done some on-line research and have to say that the resort sounded great, probably a little bit too good actually so I was a bit nervous that I had hopes that were unrealistic, however on both occasions we were treated to the same fantastic... more
The Dome is in a prime location with fabulous views and short walk to lovely old harbour of Kyrenia. However, it is now looking very shabby and in desperate need of a revamp. Our bathroom looked unclean due to worn-out tiles and decor. Toilet flushed very badly. The bed was okay only. The light and telephone sockets were all hanging off the walls. Why no freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast? We felt it was way overpriced for what it was - not sure how it retains four stars. We love the Dome... more
We only stayed one night but check in lady was not the most welcoming. Room was ok, but bathroom in need of a DEEP clean. Pool good but surrounding areas are so tired its a real shame. We had a light lunch in the hotel which was good and quickly served. We did not eat evening meal at the hotel because we had booked a table at a local restaurant.I would stay again, because I am local but if I were coming on holiday, I would be very disappointed. Sorry Dome, you need to smarten yourselves up.I... more
The position of the Dome Hotel is superb being right on the waterfront, close to all the good restaurants and although on a busy road the noise disappears as soon as you enter its portals. The hotel is aging well and will need an upgrade very soon but doesn't let you down on any front.. The rooms are not large but clean , the beds comfortable and the plumbing works. The balcony on your room gives peace to both the early morning and the evening setting of the sun. The hotel is spacious with a magnificent... more
Having lost my darling husband just last year, I was not planning to travel abroad alone, but friends invited me to visit them in North Cyprus and I decided to try it. They only have an apartment so I opted to stay at the Dome hotel in Kyrenia, since I was looking for somewhere a little more 'homely' than a big resort hotel. My sea-view room was just right for me, although I suspect a couple might have found it rather on the small side. The decor was a little dated, but the view more than made up... more
Great swimming pools, both freshwater and sea pools. Air conditioning in the bedroom was the best I have ever come across. Lovely to keep the doors open at night and hear the sea lapping below. Breakfast not brilliant but was okay if you were selective about what to have. No entertainments but that suited us fine. The room was kept very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The mini bar was useful for storing other cold stuff. Would definitely stay there again.... more
Before our holiday to North Cyprus, I decided to go on the Internet and look at some hotel reviews, which I had not done before. What surprised me was how people seemed to expect every hotel to be absolutely perfect! Any of us who used to book their holidays from printed brochure will be more than aware that hotel star ratings vary from country to country, and that what you see in the picture is always the best view of any hotel, resort or bedroom.I booked the Dome Hotel well aware that this was... more
The location and staff excellent. Facilities are what you would expect. The rooms need an upgrade they are looking tired around the edges. In general a good place to chill out, central to the Town with a fantastic sea water pool.Stayed two times previously noticed this time the standard of breakfast had gone down considerably in the choice available. It is noticeable that the hotel caters for the "older person" with few children evident so do not expect parties round the pool at night.... more
we arrived to find very dated bedrooms, albeit with a seaview. The communal areas are fine but the poolside has very tatty anti slip carpet in bright blue which could do with replacing. the drinks area overlooking the pool is very pleasant and the staff are friendly. Our friends bedroom had a very odd bathroom with the basin overlapping the loo! Very tired decor to this and the bedrooms, thought the beds were comfortable.Breakfasts were perfectly nice though non of us thought that Nescafe was acceptable.... more
The dome hotel is like going back to see your elderly aunt - safe comfortable a little tired. But still life in the old girl yet - service good - staff always pleasant and smile a lot food ok - turkish traditional - evenings relaxing entertaining - I travelled alone I did not feel out of place sitting in the bar/cafe watching the world go by.I will go back again in December - I have had a love for Cyprus since 1995I am content there - the pace of life the beauty of the island the people... more
The Dome IS Kyrenia. Its position is perfect, the swimming pools are lovely, the breakfast is excellent, the rooms are comfortable.....but.... Having stayed here on previous occasions not much has changed, and that might be the problem for anyone who has never been to North Cyprus, and who might expect a spick and span modern hotel. The Dome's charm is its quaintness, but it could also be its downfall. Sit on your balcony watching the sun set couldn't be more picturesque. Then you notice the... more
We had 4 nights at the Dome hotel which occupies an unrivalled position close to the harbour and on the sea front, with an excellent swimming pool situated on a natural rock promontory. However, that is the end of the good things we can say about the hotel. The building is very ugly, and the rooms are small and tired in their decor (think swirly carpets!). The minute bathrooms have been annexed from the rooms themselves. We found the staff were quite complacent at best, and hostile reception staff... more
We arrived late at night at the Dome Hotel and found there had been a slight mix up in that my nephew and myself had been accommodated in one room whereas I had thought I had booked for two rooms. However the receptionist was very helpful and found a room where my nephew could spend the night, and later on found a very nice room with a view of the sea where he stayed for the rest of our visit. I was doubtful whether it was the agency or myself that had caused the mix up. It may have been me. The... more
We spent one night at the Dome in mid-May. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially the porters who helped me negotiate the wild traffic in front to the hotel. We had a corner room with two terraces over the Med. Fortunately, the gentle sea breezes cooled the room, because the air conditioner did not. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom facilities were adequate. This hotel was built in 1935 and the physical plant shows it. The general feeling of the physical components was tired, in... more
We spent a week in April at the Dome. The location is excellent, the accommodation clean and comfortable, the staff very helpful. Very good value, in spite of the current pressure on sterling. Two small things would have made a big difference. First, four stars surely means an electric shower, rather than the bath-tap adapter (which may save water but is almost impossible to keep at a comfortable temperature). Second, real coffee should be offered at breakfast (for some reason, instant coffee is... more
My wife and I travelled to Kyrenia to last month for a weeks break to get away from the stress of our very demanding jobs. We both work in the medical industry and can't ever find a moment to ourselves so when we saw an opportunity we jumped at it.After a quick look around online we decided we'd visit the Dome Hotel as it looked quite nice and fairly relaxing, which was just what we were looking for. We certainly weren't disappointed either. We arrived at night so we couldnt appreciate the surroundings... more
I have stayed at the Dome, the last 2 years.it has a great location, in centre of town, the sun terraces go right out to the sea. the staff are helpfull and friendly, the buffet breakfast is first class. Good chioce of local restuarants, serving delicious food. The drive to the karpas, was out of this world, using local car hir, which is excellet value. The tours are good value, with Bellepaise Abbey being the star attraction for me. i can't wait to return.... more
We have stayed at the Dome Hotel for the last five years, simply because we like it so much! The staff are friendly and welcoming, and they even recognise us now, and are always happy to fetch a drink or a cup of coffee. The restaurant at the Dome suits us nicely with a choice of well-cooked meals, although we also have a couple of favourite local restaurants nearby that we visit too. Our main reason for coming back each year is the Dome's location in the centre of town, so you can walk to the restaurants,... more
Booked a January break at the Dome, to recover from gloom of Britain. Enjoyed the sunshine, polite staff, location in town. Disliked the pushy gamblers at dinner, tired look to our room, broken safe which had t be replaced, expensive drinks, slow bar service. Food was not much to write home about, so we ate out in town, much better. Turkish TV was rubbish, but then again, no mention of credit crunches... To my mind, the Dome is past its best, as we walked past far better looking hotels in Kyreni... more
My husband and I spent a month in North Cyprus to escape the dreadful winter weather and North Cyprus was a good choice. We were however very disappointed with the Dome Hotel. It was very quiet with mostly retirees like ourselves there, so no noisy screaming children, but the hotel is desperate for some TLC. Everything is tatty, tired and at the end of its useful life. Our room desperately needed decorating and the bathroom was shabby. It was obviously once a luxury hotel and it would really not... more
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Dome Hotel for over a week. We decided on the Dome Hotel because of its location and pool area. I love to sunbathe and swim, so the pool area was a necessity. The hotel was rated 4 stars. However, we soon found out it should have been rated lower. While the area was beautiful and the common rooms beautiful, the hotel rooms were bare minimum and smoky. The pool area had comfortable loungers, umbrellas, and pool was salt. In December it was the perfect time to... more
Staying at the Dome was like staying in an old club, all creaking floors, soft carpets, and unobtrusive staff. The Dome was the best hotel when the British ruled here - it still has that slightly musty, old fashioned feel, despite its Art Deco style curves and corners, and some of the guests looked like they had never left! However, if you book the Dome knowing that, which we did, it takes on a charm of its own.Our room was old-fashioned but comfortable, and the bathroom clean if a little tired.... more
My husband and I run a family business as chartered accountants in south Wales and booked a mid year holiday to get away from the stresses of work for a week. We'd first thought about a 2 week break but decided it was too long away from the family firm, and how glad we were that we didn't. Having never visited north Cyprus before we had no idea what hotels were good and what ones were to be avoided. The local travel agent said the Dome hotel would suit a couple of professionals wanting to get away... more
I very much enjoyed my stay at the Dome in Kyrenia. I wanted a smaller, friendly hotel as I was travelling on my own, rather than a big resort hotel where it's hard to meet people. My room was comfortable and had a lovely sea view. It was clean and airy, and had a small but perfectly acceptable bathroom ensuite. I was very grateful for the air conditioning, as it got very hot in June. The hotel staff knew I was on my own and went out of their way to make me feel welcome, from ensuring I had a good... more
