Last year was our 40 year wedding anniversary and so I decided to treat my husband to a trip abroad. We rarely get to go abroad these days as I am not too keen on flying and my husband has bouts of suffering with his arthritis. I'd always liked to visit Cyprus and my daughter had told me about the wonderful times she had when she visited a few years ago. A neighbour suggested the Malpas hotel as being one of the best around so with the help of my daughter I looked for deals on the internet. Initially I was a little put off by the prices but as it was a special occasion I decided we should enjoy ourselves without worrying about what money we were spending.

Thankfully the flight to Cyprus went without delay and the trip over was smooth and quite quick too. We arrived at the hotel and were immediately greeted by the hotel front of house staff who helped us to check in and then took our bags to our room. My husband was very impressed by the beautiful hotel and neither of us could quite believe how clean and tidy the Malpas was. Our room was equally pleasing. We has lovely views of the Mediterranean sea and could also clearly see the nearby mountains from our room too.

I had some concerns regarding what the food might be like as I am not all too keen on foreign food as a general rule but thankfully the chefs at the hotel were fantastic and produced some wonderful food. There was always a good selection and I had the option of having my 'normal' English food if I so pleased. Being a fan of sea food we also tried the seafood restaurant on two occasions. My husband told the waiter it was the freshest tasting fish he'd ever had, so I think he was pleased also.

As we are getting on in life I wondered if the hotel was very lively at night. My husband and I tend to go to bed early and rise early too, so I hoped the hotel wasn't too noisy as I'd been told there was a casino within the complex. Thankfully even though the hotel was lively at night, we were not disturbed at all and had the chance to relax with a book each night before a good comfortable nights rest. We had such a wonderful and memorable trip to Cyprus and hope to return some day soon.

I would recommend The Hotel to anyone heading to North Cyprus, we loved it and would certainly book to go back.
