This is a hotel review for Malpas Hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus
“Overall a good hotel but with some tweaks required to justify 5 star rating”
Stayed at the Malpas Hotel for the 2nd time as we had enjoyed the first stay in Dec 2010 so much. Another enjoyable visit but we did notice some prolific cost cutting measures which should not have been allowed in a 5 star hotel. The breakfast was not as generous this time with bacon appearing just once in the week and cooked tomatoes once also. If you wanted fresh orange juice you had to pay 7TL for the pleasure otherwise the alternative was a couple of very cheap squash type drinks. Half board customers should also have access to free coffee at the evening meal. Also there was no cream available for the coffee. I do not expect to be charged for this in 5 star hotels. The hotel was not overbusy and this was the Easter break so they really need to up their game if they want to attract more customers. They had cut corners but they had not cut their room rates. Still, to be fair, I do recommend this hotel if you are looking for a relaxing stay. It is very clean and the restaurant staff are very welcoming. The hotel is in a great position but I recommend hiring a car to get out and really explore the island. The Hamam is fabulous and the pools very good too.
