Savoy Ottoman Palace Hotel Reviews (35 Reviews)
We really enjoyed our stay at the Savoy Ottoman Palace Hotel, which we arranged through gonorthcyprus.com. It's in a great central spot and we had a nice room that was clean and welcoming with luxurious decor. Good buffet restaurant with a really decent selection at breakfast time and good dinners too. Lots of Turkish-style cooking. The restaurant manager is friendly and efficient. The bar is reasonably priced with plenty of variety and the staff were helpful, despite most not having very good English!... more
I had a lovely time recently at the Savoy Ottoman Palace Hotel. I booked a week away with my husband through GoNorthCyprus and we received a good price for our trip. On arrival we were blown away by the grandeur of the hotel's exterior and, once inside, by the interior too. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, even the security men smiled and were polite. We had a good sized room with all the necessary modcons and were very happy with the standard of decor and cleanliness. Breakfast was fairly... more
I wanted to go abroad somewhere stylish and having never been to the north of Cyprus before I was interested to see more when the gonorthcyprus website popped up. I had a look at several hotels but the Savoy Ottoman seemed like the right choice for a luxurious escape. Sure enough, when we arrived we found the hotel very plush, even the staff are well dressed in suits. There is a pianist playing in the lobby and the hotel looks very classy inside. Our room was elegant and had a lovely marble bathroom... more
We were looking for an upmarket hotel for a luxurious break away and the Savoy Ottoman Palace seemed ideal. When we arrived we were impressed by the grandeur of the entrance, which is manned by a doorman - all very glitzy and clean too. We had a very comfortable room, well furnished and nicely decorated. Nice Jacuzzi bath gave it a luxurious touch. Be aware though that a lot of the hotel guests smoke - if you aren't a smoker the smell may bother you. We really enjoyed the food at the hotel, although... more
The Savoy Ottoman is a beautiful hotel, just like on the pictures we saw on the gonorthcyprus website when booking. It's breathtaking when you draw up and equally luxurious inside, the door staff are even dressed in tuxes. Very impressive decor in the reception area and friendly staff too. We were shown to our room by a porter and very impressed by what we found, all the soft furnishings were very plush and we had a lovely view over the pool. Room was clean and beds changed often, nice bathroom... more
We clicked on GoNorthCyprus.com looking for a hotel that oozed class, and Gary from sales helped us find this little gem. The Savoy Ottoman Palace Hotel is not like any other Mediterranean resort we've stayed in before. Incredibly ornate and extravagant, each room has been designed to the highest standard. When we arrived, we were immediately blown away by the impressive lobby and grand piano and that was before we spotted the marbled bathroom in our room! One of our favourite things about the Ottoman... more
I don't normally write reviews but the service that I got from Go North and from the Hotel was outstanding.I originally booked online in August, but three days before the trip, an appointment came up at work which I couldn't miss , expecting to have to cancel, I called Go North and explained , they offered to change my flights to suit , nothing was too much trouble, the Hotel was very comfortable and in a great location... more
This was my family's second visit to the Savoy Ottoman Palace Hotel. We're huge fans of Kyrenia and have stayed in a fair few hotels but when we came in 2014, the Savoy Ottoman was by far the best! Although we've been here before, this was the first time we've booked through gonorthcyprus.com. I spoke to Gary, who besides being very funny, was really helpful in finding us a good deal with the hotel and flights together. What we love about the Savoy Ottoman Palace is the interesting, traditional décor.... more
If it's luxury and grandeur you're after, the Savoy Ottoman doesn't disappoint! We'd seen the pictures on gonorthcyprus.com and were hooked instantly, booking our break straightaway. When we arrived at the hotel we were blown away by the lavish décor and the staff in traditional Ottomon clothing added a cultural twist. We had the buffet breakfast every morning and found it to be fantastic, although we did need to make a special request for tea. The hotel is set in the centre of Kyrenia, which made... more
Needing local advice Go North Cyprus were recommended to me , the agent that I spoke to (Gary) quickly identified what I was looking for and came up with a choice of flights to suit. The Hotel is very comfortable and close enough to town but still in a quieter residential area, I was spoilt for choice with the Buffet breakfast.I will return but on Holiday rather than the business trip that I went for.... more
My husband and I stayed at the Savoy Ottoman Palace in Kyrenia this winter after a long debate over our choice of hotel. So long, in fact, that we had to involve a neutral mediator to stop things getting out of hand. Luckily, the staff at Go North Cyprus were more than happy to help (we spoke to Mandy, who was extremely helpful and thorough, but I gather after reading some of the other comments online regarding the company that the other guys are also great). To be honest, the brief we gave her was... more
I've just come back from a few days in Kyrenia, North Cyprus and feel so refreshed! I've had a stunning holiday, staying at a brilliant hotel. I chose the Savoy Ottoman Palace from the advice I was given by Mandy at GoNorthCyprus.com. It was really traditional and beautifully furnished, nothing ultra modern and bland here! The Savoy Ottoman Palace was something a little bit different from your average tourist hotel. It was classy and well decorated, in-keeping with its Ottoman style. Even the bedrooms... more
My wife and I were lucky to have received a stay at the Savoy Ottoman Palace from our family for our 50th wedding anniversary. We love sun holidays and had never been to North Cyprus before. We were so chuffed when we opened the present and although we had a wonderful stay, I think if my family had known that the hotel wasn't like a normal 5 star, they would have been disappointed because I know they'd paid a lot of money. The décor in the hotel did shout out luxury. It was covered in marble and... more
When we were booking our hotel we came across Go North Cyprus.com who recommended the Savoy Ottoman Palace as matching our needs. The first thing that we noticed that there were a number of reviews that weren't so good about this place. However, from the moment we got there it seemed as though something had been done to solve the problems, which makes me think that the management of the hotel really sat up and listened to what was being said about them. Listening to the customers is definitely a... more
as you enter the hotel its very plush and clean.the bedroom was very small, and the furniture had seen better days they needed to be replaced.although there were two of us, there was only one bath robe and slippers, the bathroom was clean the toiletries consisted of 2 hair conditioners.Breakfast was pleasant but before I had finished the waiter came and took away my plate. we only stayed for 2 nights. we will not be returning to the Savoy Ottaman I think it is more a 4 star hotel and was expensive... more
Our third visit in four years. Overall, the SOP hotel is as welcoming as ever, however have noticed a few changes, perhaps not for the better. The casino is the dominant 'partner', the hotel now appears secondary - the casino has encroached into the ground floor lounge leaving only the pub/bar. The rooms and housing keeping remains of a high standard, however the bathrooms appear a little tired, nothing that cannot be be rectified. Overall, an excellent hotel, close the the centre/harbour. ... more
The staff are really pleasant & out to please ( which they do well) we stayed for New year "to treat our selves" we had a good New Years eve & breakfast in the morning, then went walking to clear our "heads"! when we got back to the hotel, via the main entrance the two main chefs (in full chefs whites)were holding down a sheep right outside the main doors, with it's throat cut, waiting for it to bleed out!!! into the main drains (thanks for that it made my hung over stomach feel lots better!! as... more
The Savoy Ottoman Hotel: at arrival we thought everything is asleep at 16 h , but no problem, since it was off season 2nd dec.-10The standard room is komfortable well equpped and airy .Even the flower bed decoration was a positive surprise,Bathroom a bit small for two and therefore cramped, but enough space to spread toilettryFor a new hotel the shower/ bath tub was already in a very used state. Needs more looking after. The reastaurant was ok, food excellent, lots of fresh fruits and chees.But... more
My wife and i live in the middle east where there are true 5 star hotels the savoy would be 4 star, good location, great maid on the 2nd floor who would get a job in any hotel in Bahrain, breakfast buffet but why so much cheese, all white, strong, medium, mild and more again .Staff very helpful ,gym opens at 10.30am breakfast finishes at 10.30 am,gym should open at 9am so you can work out then have a bite to eat. We were in Kyrenia for the Cypriot national day and saw a fantastic air show similar to the... more
More of a business hotel than a tourist one but this did not detract from our overall opinion of the Savoy Ottoman Palace which was very good. There were a few tiny things to pick upon - the gym needs air conditioning, they need a greater choice of music, the casino is actually a room full of machines and the half board package should be flexible enough to be able to swap dinner for lunch, but other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider using the hotel again if we... more
Great location, near to everything, able to walk to all restaurant/bar areas, very clean, fabulous staff, any issues addressed quickly, allowed to use their computer for return airline check in. Rooms small and very 'ornate', typical Ottoman style (too many cushions etc for us as we had nowhere to put them !!) but rooms very clean, loved having a balcony, pool too 'clinical' but this is a town hotel , however there is a great service to a fabulous beach area with all facilities, staff there were... more
Stayed there with my husband and 1 year old son. Hotel was extremely clean and comfortable, staff were friendly and ready to help. Breakfast offered a good selection of food. Didn't seem to have a business centre but staff let us use the pc at reception when needed. Location is excellent, just a short walk from the harbour and restaurants. Only thing I missed really was a balcony as only one side of the hotel had them.... more
We stayed at the Savoy Ottoman for two nights from 17th -19th September 2010. We have stayed in a few hotels in Kyrenia but this has to be the best. The facilities are excellent, the rooms very comfortable, though we did have a problem with the AC but this was quickly resolved. The pool area was great and having access to Beach Club and the courtesy transfer made our stay even better, we spent a very pleasant day there. We loved the breakfast buffet, the variety, quality and quantity available was... more
We had a week at The Savoy and whilst we felt a little isolated on arrival, it was one in the morning, apart from that everything was as it should be. The hotel is a little glitzy for me, but we knew that before we arrived. The room was well appointed, with a decent balcony overlooking the pool. Breakfast was a very reasonable buffet with fresh eggs on request and the pool area is really nice, even if you do get a little sick of the elevator music. They have a shuttle service to Escape beach which... more
My family and I arrived on July 24th and thouroughly enjoyed our 12 nights. Our journey had been a little fraught as my 9 year old daughters case had been lost by B-A, en route to Istanbull. When we arrived at the Savoy, the staff immediately went out of their way to help. The car was parked and the cases taken to our room, everything was ready and waiting. The quisine is excellent, and caters for all tastes, including our 9 year old daughter. The pool is spotless and the attendent deserves a special... more
We had a good holiday, the room was excellent and the amenities were very well presented. The staff were very friendly and looked after us well in fact did more than was expected of them. The pool was always well maintained and clean. the food was of a buffet style and plenty of it. The shuttle bus to the beach was always on time and the beach venue was good. All in all we had a very good holiday.... more
The hotel is lovely. We were disappointed with the room as we were a party of 2 adults and 2 children (6 years and 1 year respectively). We were put into a double room so it was a squeeze with the kids rollaway bed and cot. We were HB and the breakfast and evening meals were lovely, but there didn't seem to be a lot of variety. The staff did drop quite a few bits of cutlery which started to get on my nerves after a while as it was always a loud clatter on the tiled floor. The pool is lovely and... more
I found the staff very helpfull and could'nt do enough for you. The few points we found were a bit poor for a 5 star, you didnt have any tea or coffee making facilities in the room. It took staff almost 45 mins to sort out access to our room as the key card system didnt work after we came back from a walk in the town. I informed the Main Bar that the cornona was out of date and had been since Jan 2010. They removed all the bottles and could'nt get any more till the next day. They didnt even offer... more
We had a good stay, bedrooms are very sumptuous as are the public rooms.Food was good, only downside in the didning room was the live Turkish band was good but far too loud for a restaurant.Staff were helpful but our room was booked for 3 people and it took 3 phone calls to get the extra bed set up. The weather wasnt good enough to take advantage of the pool area but they were nicely set out.Kyrenia harbour was beautiful with plenty of fab places to eat lining the harbourside.Everything was very good... more
The Savoy Ottoman was a stunning hotel, expectedly expensive, but everything you could want and expect from a five star hotel.Upon arrival, both my husband and I were amazed by its lavish reception area- the marble added that touch of class. The room was equally as gorgeous. It was incredibly spacious, spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated and had excellent facilities such as a plasma TV. Although we only stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, the choice and quality we had encouraged us to spend... more
The Savoy Ottoman certainly deserves its 5* rating. Probably the best hotel we have stayed in. There wasn't a single aspect which we could fault during our 9 night stay. The staff provided excellent and friendly service, the rooms and amenities are new and very clean, food very good. Situated in the centre of Girne just a few minutes walk from the harbour area the Savoy provided us just the break we wanted. When we go back to TRNC we'll certainly stay at the Savoy Ottoman.... more
We decided that the Savoy Ottoman looked a cut above the average hotel in Kyrenia just from its pictures, and we were not disappointed. It really does gleam like a palace!Often hotels out of season can be deathly and staff can tend to kick back, but at the Savoy Ottoman we got excellent service, and the staff seemed genuinely pleased to help. There was certainly plenty to see and do during February and I think being in Kyrenia itself rather than stuck out in a beach resort really helped. We could... more
Travelling out of season is when I find my best deals, and staying at the Savoy was a good choice. Getting time away is hard when you're a doctor so you take your holidays when you can. Although I didn't get the full benefits of the weather in Cyprus the hotel was wonderful. Since it was in November there were not many guests so I almost had the hotel to myself. The appointments are lush with every attention to detail being met. The bathroom was beautiful with the gold fixtures and granite... more
Stayed at the Savoy Ottoman Palace last October as a holiday for me and my boyfriend. Had a beautiful room which was fantastic. Had two pools so didn't have to share with others too much. We spent lots of time lying in the sun and drinking beers!!!! Loads of food to eat at breakfast which came with room. Since we were here in October there weren't very many people so got great service. Tried playing at the casino for a night but lost money so didn't like it very much. Not a lot of partying... more
The Savoy Ottoman Palace is a new, plush casino hotel that ticks every box in terms of, well, plush casino hotels. Paulo and I booked because we wanted a touch of luxury on holiday in a hotel that wouldn't be dull, dirty or in need of new decor, as many older North Cyprus hotel seems to be, according to reviews we read. Everything feels very NEW, from the immaculate frontage to the gleaming gold and marble lobby area. The architecture is all Moorish arches and swaggers, indulgent and opulant without... more
