I'd travelled to Cyprus with my family when I was a child and had many happy memories. I wanted to treat myself to a quiet holiday after getting a bonus at work so decided to visit North Cyprus as it had always been a favourite. I certainly wasn't disappointed. The North Cyprus area was as beautiful as I'd remembered it and the Malpas Hotel allowed me to take in every part of that beauty: on one side of the hotel I had a view of the sparkling sea and the other a view of the stunning Kyrenia mountains. Being a few miles away from Kyrenia Town meant that the hotel's surroundings were peaceful and although the hotel was quite vibrant, I didn't hear any passers by late at night.

My hotel room was absolutely spotless and had all the facilities I needed. I especially loved sitting on my balcony, looking out to sea. Another bonus about my room was that I didn't have to pay a single supplement! That is usually such an annoying extra cost.

Although the weather was good when I went, it wasn't quite warm enough to spend a day by the pool. Instead I did a lot of site seeing. I absolutely loved the historical parts of Kyrenia and found so many castles to visit in the area. If I wasn't out and about, I also enjoyed spending time in the indoor pool and sauna area; it was very relaxing.

The food at the hotel was very good with a fair choice. As I was on my own, I decided to eat in the hotel restaurant most evenings and didn't get bored with what I could choose from. However, the one time I did venture out to a local restaurant, I felt safe being on my own and even stayed for a few drinks in the local bars.

The hotel was excellent value for money but I found that everywhere in North Cyprus was very reasonable, especially the restaurant meals.

I can't believe it has taken me so long to go to North Cyprus again. I shall definitely be making it an annual trip and I would stay at the Malpas Hotel again without a doubt.
