Colony Hotel Review - 43 of 98 Reviews

My husband and I stayed in the Colony Hotel for 6 nights during September 2011. We were very happy with the standard of the hotel in terms of location, decor, comfort, staff, food - everything to be honest. We had read the reviews before hand which were a mix of comments. Our room was on the second floor which was a great size and was fully equipped with everything you would need for business or pleasure. We had a great sized balcony overlooking the front of the hotel with table and 2 chairs, this did look onto a busy street and car wash across the road so not peaceful if this is what you are looking for when sipping your evening drink, but it didnt bother us. Staff in reception, breakfast restaurant and the roof top pool/ restaurant were all very pleasant and friendly on all occasions. The price of food/ drink in the rooftop bar/restaurant was probably on a par with 5* hotels here in Dublin - expensive, which was quite a bit higher than you would pay in the town or harbour area of Kyrenia, but the joy of that is with the location of the hotel you have a choice of eating where you want. Best of both worlds. We would usually have a night cap in the rooftop bar after our dinner in the main town area.

The pool area is lovely, with bar service to your sunbed. I did wonder what would happen if the hotel was full as there were only approx 30 beds around the pool with no extra space to put any more out - however in saying this the issue did not arise, everyone seemed to have a bed each day.

Roof top restaurant and bar were closed for private functions on a couple of ocassions during our stay, but again this was not an issue as we just went into the town/ harbour for food and drink.

Very relaxing, comfortable, good quality hotel, that I would definitely recommend to others and stay at again.
