This is a hotel review for Colony Hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus
“Delighted we went”
We took an on-the-spur-of-the-moment decision to visit North Cyprus (I'd previously been in Cyprus 50 years ago!) and returned to a busier and larger but not vastly different Kyrenia. After considerable research and thought we opted to stay at the Colony Hotel and are delighted that we did. It is ideally situated - near enough the centre of things but not overwhelmed by crowds.
We found the staff exceedingly helpful, polite and kind (I'm a little unsteady on my legs these days) and the food was plentiful with a vast choice of delicious dishes. I'm usually not keen on buffet meals but somehow all the elements seemed to come together and we had both breakfast and dinner there and enjoyed them. (Two criticisms of breakfast - there could be a larger choice of fruit jiuces and while initially there were two two-slice toasters operating - not really sufficient - after a couple of days one disappeared leaving only one and a queue.)
The room was of a good standard with a pleasant balcony - I'd asked for one and got it - but was not outstanding. The shower room however (no bath) was of an extremely high standard indeed. Well designed and opulently covered in marble with a marble seat in the large shower enclosure.
The pool on the roof, while not large, is in an ideal setting overlooking the town and castle. With a very convenient bar nearby.
All in all we had a successful and enjoyable stay.
