This is a hotel review for Colony Hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus
“Glitzy hotel in heart of Kyrenia town”
The Colony Hotel is right in the centre of Kyrenia, really easy to simply walk out the door and explore. Lobby areas, lounges and bars very smart, glitzy feel, a touch of glamour. Once inside, traffic noise disappears, you feel like you're on a cruise ship!
Our sea facing room was spacious, nice and light, and spotlessly clean. Bed was large and comfortable. Quiet too at all times. Food was excellent at all meals we had, breakfast especially tasty, and local town centre and harbour restaurants are within a few minutes' walk if you fancy a change. We ate late at the famous Niazi's kebab place, and were disappointed because we got ignored for ages, but loved the fish at the Lagoon. Main shopping streets are close too, nice to browse.
Rooftop pool is fun, if a little short of sun loungers, and great for a swim after a hot day in town. Good views too. Booked a massage at the spa which was very relaxing and soothed aching muscles perfectly. Casino is unobtrusive.
Hired a car which spent most of its time parked at the hotel, as there was plenty to see and do. Drove to Karpaz for the countryside, and to restored village of Karmi, easy drives if you don't mind narrow winding roads.
Kyrenia has lots to offer if you look hard enough. We asked locals for their favoruite bars, cafes, etc, and found places we'd never have discovered otherwise.
Liked — great location
Disliked — drinks prices
