The Colony is probably the best hotel in central Kyrenia, and we were a bit worried that we'd be expected to dress for dinner or such. In fact, the staff are courteous and the mood relaxed, and when we went in october it was quiet too. (Not half term week).

The breakfast buffet was good, and I enjoyed a fresh omlette every morning - set me up for walking and shopping in Kyrenia. It was a nice touch that one day a girl came to every table to check we were enjoying our stay. We stayed B&B, so we ate out every night in Kyrenia, as there were so many restaurants to choose from within 10 minutes walk from the Colony. We had a fun night as Niazi's wading through their enormous kebabs too.

Our nice clean room had a balcony, but it only overlooked the road below, so we didn't use it. There was enough room to sit in the room if we wanted, but instead, we'd wander down to the harbour, get a Turkish coffee and pastry, and watch the world go by from there.

We did swim in the rooftop pool, but its a bit windy up there and I got chilly out of the water. The edge also got really slippery when wet, and even the waiters were careful not to slip.

We hired a car for two days, and it was good that you could park the car at the hotel overnight. We only drove a little way into the mountains, but it was nice to leave the dust and noise of the town for cool breezes and pine forests.

Other guests complained that the gamblers who came for the casino at the weekend took over the hotel, but we found very little different in service or quality.
