The Colony hotel is a beautiful place to visit and stay but you must remember that it is a town centre hotel in the middle of a busy place with an excess of high rolling gamblers and impressing the local glitterati. If this sounds like your kind of thing then you'll really enjoy your time here. When we first arrived we were more than impressed at the hotel itself. It was immaculately presented, with a very relaxing but professional atmosphere. They certainly knew what they were looking to achieve when they designed this place. When you get into the building you appreciate it's quiet, classy decor. Our room was very beautifully decorated and we were lucky enough to get a room which was overlooking the sea, although not all rooms have this bonus.

Sleeping was a nice luxury too, the hotel is carpeted throughout and the soundproofing is pretty good too. After a difficult period at work my wife and I were very glad to get away for a well earned break! The pool was very nice too but there was a shortage of sunbeds for the number of people who wanted to stay by the pool which was a bit frustrating at times.

The hotel food was great and the choice was pretty broad. We could have the normal english style foods or branch out a bit into some more traditional local food. One of the big negatives though were the bar prices which we found to be very very expensive even for a hotel of this sort.

To conclude, the hotel is in a fabulous location for access to the castle and harbour area, main shopping street and all bars and restaurants which are all within easy walking distance.
