Colony Hotel Review - 35 of 98 Reviews

We have visited North Cyprus on various occasions over the past decade, and experienced all manner of hotels from the very good to the very bad. We have just returned from a visit to The Colony Hotel and are very pleased to say that this hotel falls firmly into the first category. It is extremely clean and well maintained, impeccably furnished and the rooms are very large in comparison with most of the competitor hotels we've visited.

Customer service in the hotel is clearly paramount. The staff speak excellent English and are always on hand to make you as comfortable as they possibly can. We were offered fresh towels to take with us to the beach and free use of sun tan lotion if we required it. Whilst not hugely impressive in itself, it was a good indicator of the treatment that guests at The Colony hotel receive.

The one complaint that we (and, I imagine, other guests) had about this place is the bar prices. Most drinks are priced in a manner roughly equivalent to that of bars in Central London, so for most people it won't really be an option to drink inside the complex for long. Unfortunately the hotel implements a band on guests bringing their own alcohol in from outside for “health and safety” reasons. On a couple of occasions staff even carried out bag checks on entrance to the bar.

The only other real issue we had was with noise, but frankly whilst people are on holiday they don't want to be told to go to bed at midnight and this may not be the resort for you if you want an entirely quiet time. However, for most couples and families this resort provides incredible value for money and comes (at least from us) highly recommended.
