This is a hotel review for Colony Hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus
“Good in parts”
The Colony Hotel grew on us over the two days we spent there. We were alarmed to find it was on a main street, and reminded the receptionist that we had asked for a quiet room - we were then given a room at the back on the 2nd floor, only to find that there were all the signs of a large party about to take place in the function room just below us. Luckily it either didn't take place or finished very early as there were no signs of revellers in the hotel later. However, because the Hotel is right in the town, there was quite a lot of noise from outside. We turned on the airconditioning both to drown the outside noise, and also to cool down the room. The airconditioning made an awful racket, but produced no cold air at all - didn't even seem to function as a fan, although it did serve as 'white noise' at least. Apart from that, and the hardness of the mattress - sleeping on the floor might have been softer - the hotel was fine. The staff were very attentive and polite, the breakfast was good and the wine list was excellent, although very expensive. We tried the spa but not the swimming pool as the weather wasn't quite warm enough. The jacuzzi was good as was the steam room. The Colony is very close to the centre of town and easy to walk to the harbour, castle, restaurants etc.
Liked — wine list, polite staff
Disliked — Hard bed, non functioning airconditioning
