These days, there's quite a lot of options available if you're looking for a hotel in Northern Cyprus. Fortunately, that means that the standard of accommodation is much higher than it might have been a decade ago when tourism in the area was much less common. We chose the Dome as it was a recommended Hotel by GoNorthCyprus (the booking company we used) because of its proximity to the Kyrenia Harbour, which we'd seen in pictures looking very pretty indeed. The Dome is also right on the seafront as an added bonus, so the location of the building is about as good as you'll find anywhere in this neck of the woods.

The Dome's own restaurant is situated in a position that offers amazing seaviews during breakfast and dinner. Unfortunately, the food itself is much less impressive- mainly because most of the supposedly “hot” dishes were luke warm by the time they got to the buffet, and certain foods are much less enjoyable at a tepid temperature.

Our room also had some problems- it didn't look like it had been redecorated in quite a few years- a fact which was made blatantly obvious when you entered the bathroom. The shower was weak, and provided barely-warm water, and parts of the bath were peeling away slightly. The room had a television, but it was a small, old-style CRT type television so we didn't make much use of it. In fact, the best point the room had going for it were the beds (extremely comfortable, which made for a peaceful night's sleep) and the free wi-fi access that we hadn't expected given the outdated look of everything else in the hotel.

The staff were also brilliant. The put us at ease whenever we encountered them and made us feel very much at home. Because of this we were able to overlook many of the negative factors and enjoy our holiday thoroughly and plan to retuern to Northern Cyprus again.
