You can't fault most of the staff at this hotel, they are really helpful and friendly. Two people in particular stand out. The very slim, well spoken waiter who went to Oxford to study and the larger more mature gentleman with the goatee beard on reception. We didn't get their names but they are obvious because of their helpfulness and approachability.

We were disappointed with the lack of knowledge the staff had on tour availability and although there were several tour operators boards stacked up in a corner of reception we never saw anyone to talk to. It would have given us a far better impress if the staff could have made recommendation of where to go and what to see but instead they seemed uninterested.

The rooms and the condition of the hotel was scruffy. Now we know it is one of the oldest in Girne (Kyrenia), but that doesn't alter the fact that the plaster has blown in lots of places throughout the hotel and if it is to withstand another 90yrs, some major TLC needs to take place.

When looking for a hotel our search criteria was 4* minimum. We chose The Dome because of the location. This hotel is the very bottom of 4*. You do get nice little touches like shampoo, conditioner, dental kit, shaving kit, soap, shower cap, cotton buds and cotton pads, mini bar (quite a lot really) but no refreshment making facilities in your room! No Kettle.
