This is a hotel review for Dome Hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus
“Fantastic Location but Dire need of renovation.”
I stayed at the hotel 20-27 January 2010. The first impression created was not good as paint was peeling off the building prior to entering reception. Once inside carpets were old and stained. The receptionist was pleasent but had to walk up 3 flights of stairs as lift was out of order. The room was small but adequate but once again in need of renewal from carpet, bed to bathroom fittings some of which were rusty and waterflow was weak. In their favour is that the room was clean and kept in that state through out my stay by daily cleaning and making of bed.
Breakfast was below expectations and was very limited and the eggs provided as fried or scrambled were like plastic and not edible. They are still trying to keep food warm with primative methods. On some days even though smoking is banned they allowed some clients/local workmen to smoke.
The hotel is situated in a beautiful location and most of the staff are friendly however it urgently needs modernisation. Also there is no dedicated space for car hire and this would be a major problem during the main holiday season.
By European or American Standards it would struggle to achieve a 1/2 Star nevermind the 4 Star rating it is supposed to have.
However as I was visiting family and only used the room/hotel for sleeping I did not let it spoil my visit.
