We visited northern Cyprus in June and we loved our stay at the Dome Hotel. Unlike some others, we appreciate the great architecture of this older hotel that was built in the 1930's. Yes, it's dated, but the walls are so thick that you never hear noises from the corridor or outside. You can't say that about most hotels these days!

Our room was clean and we had good working air and the bathroom fixtures all worked well, so as far as I'm concerned, it's a prime hotel. It's located in the Northern Cyprus town of Kyrenia so we were within a short walk of the harbour, which provided us with most of our entertainment throughout our stay, although there's plenty to do inside the hotel grounds as well.

The dome hotel boasts 3 pools. One is a children's pool. There's also a large pool for general usage and a natural rock pool. There's a bar located outside near the pools for poolside service, plus they provide plenty of loungers for sunning, as well as towels poolside. There's also a casino, which we didn't visit, but we did get reports from other guests who said the casino is as nice and as well-maintained as the rest of the hotel.

I have to say, the breakfast buffet at the Dome was probably the best I've ever had in any hotel. The selection was quite extensive and really delicious. The service was fabulous and everything was hot and fresh. I can't speculate on the lunch and dinner service or food, as we ate at the harbour for lunch and dinner almost every day but if it's anything like the breakfasts, then it's delicious.

The North Cyprus harbour area has so much to offer in the way of restaurants and bars that we picked a different one to try for each meal. I really loved being right in the heart of downtown, as it made it so much easier to get around and see everything. In the past, we've stayed at places a distance out of town and although it's great for relaxation, if you want to mingle and sightsee, you really need to be in town, and a historical hotel like the Dome fits in with mine and my wife's tastes in architecture, so we felt right at home here. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone and we hope to be back to the Dome Hotel soon.
