Savoy Ottoman Palace Hotel Review - 25 of 35 Reviews

My husband and I stayed at the Savoy Ottoman Palace in Kyrenia this winter after a long debate over our choice of hotel. So long, in fact, that we had to involve a neutral mediator to stop things getting out of hand. Luckily, the staff at Go North Cyprus were more than happy to help (we spoke to Mandy, who was extremely helpful and thorough, but I gather after reading some of the other comments online regarding the company that the other guys are also great).

To be honest, the brief we gave her was not exactly straightforward. We hadn't been on holiday together for quite a few years and so we wanted somewhere with a sense of occasion, but we're also on a pretty strict budget these days. When she suggested the Ottoman Palace we agreed to stretch the spend a little further because the pictures online are so impressive- marble pillars and floors as far as the eye can see- so our expectations were set very high from the outset. Nor were we disappointed! The rooms and communal areas were grand and spacious (I was surprised to find a jacuzzi style bath in our room) and the staff were all dressed to suit the Ottoman theme.

The staff were perhaps the only area where we saw much room for improvement. Although they were polite in the strictest sense of the word, there wasn't much of a “happy to help” atmosphere when we required assistance. Aside from that, the stay was great. The food was fairly good- we only ate breakfast in the hotel as that's all our paid stay included and it was better than a lot of hotel buffet breakfasts I've eaten over the years. The location was a major plus for us too (a stone's throw from the marina) with the sea visible from certain points.
