This is a hotel review for Salamis Bay Conti Hotel in Famagusta, North Cyprus
“Great family holiday”
Just back for a week at the Salamis Bay hotel, and what a lovely week it was - sun, sand, good service and happy kids - bliss!
We had a 'bungalow' which was more like an apartment, and just great for the family. The outdoor pool was well used by the boys and their dad, but baby Meg and I preferred the inside pool, softy girls that we are. All of us loved the clean beach and spent hours there.
We had never been to North Cyprus before, not sure what to expect. The staff made us feel very welcome and we even got hot food when we arrived late a night - a real surprise and very welcome after a long journey. After a day or two, the waiters spoilt our two kids rotten once they realised the boys were struggling with the different food, etc, even with a buffet to choose from. The boys' desserts always seemed to be much bigger than ours.... The free water at breakfast was very welcome, as the orange juice was not good and the kids got thirsty.
The hotel isn't in a tourist part, so you need a car to go and see things or go shopping. We hired a car for a couple of days, and went to Famagusta where Ryan and Harry enjoyed playing knights on the old town walls and Meg enjoyed her first kebab! (More gummed than eaten...) Kyrenia was a nice town too but a bit of a long drive for the kids on a hot day.
Liked — sunshine, pool, beach
Disliked — traffic in Famagusta
