Salamis Bay Conti Hotel Review - 1 of 44 Reviews

Had a nice holiday at the Salamis Conti, right on the beach, with views right over the bay - lovely. Boyfriend is a bit of an ancient ruins nut, so he loved being so close to the ancient city of Salamis and spent two days (yes, two) tramping over the site and the tombs over the road. I stayed by the pool with a beer or six!

Hotel has two sections, the hotel block and separate bungalows to the other side of the swimming pool area. Whole pool area was kept clean and tidy, and the gardens were nice too. You just walked down onto the sandy beach, and you could swim in the sea which was lovely. There are rocks as you swim out, with fish, and one guest said he'd seen turtles swimming there, but I wasn't lucky enough to see one myself. Boyfriend had a go at jetskiing, which was hilarious to watch as he kept going round in circles!

Our hotel room was just fine; tidy, neat and cool thanks to decent air con. Bathroom was clean and decent shower pressure too, although the water took ages to drain away.

We stayed half board, and the food was OK but not very imaginative and the plates were not always clean as I would like. Staff seemed not bothered about this, were generally stand-offish. Service generally was of the 'take it or leave it' style, and good information almost impossible to find - take a good guidebook and map if you want to explore!

Nearby Famagusta was great for a night out and good bars thanks to a big student population. We got a cab back which wasn't too expensive, considering the hotel is about 10km out of town.
