This is a hotel review for Pia Bella Hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus
“Charming hotel with lovely gardens”
We have never been to North Cyprus before, but were utterly charmed by the country we saw and the people we met there. The Pia Bella was not our first choice of hotel, but in the end was probably better than our original choice. The hotel has an old Colonial look from the front but inside it's a modern hotel with all the facilities you'd expect. The staff made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived, and the young maid who cleaned our room every day was always smiling.
Our meals at the Pia Bella was tasty and nicely prepared, and on warmer days we ate on the terrace rather than inside. There was a good choice at night, and not too much spicy food. My husband enjoyed the barbeque lunches, and the poolside bar service - a man's idea of heaven! We went to a local restaurant called Blue Rose one night which is run by an English lady, and ate a lovely lamb kleftiko. We had lunch at the Venetian harbour too, but the prices were almost as much as London, much to our surprise.
The terrace area around the pool is also nice to sit out on, with waving palm trees screening the suburbs of Kyrenia. The gardens were beautifully kept and green in May. I did not go in either of the the pools, but keener souls than I claimed both were warm enough for them!
We flew into south Cyprus Larnaca airport and booked a taxi transfer, which actually only took about 1.5 hours to reach the hotel. We did not need a car as Kyrenia town is 20 minutes walk away (not 10 mins, as some brochures claim). I found this a lot less stressful than driving a hire car myself, and we got a very good price for the flights in May.
Liked — good food, friendly staff, sunshine
Disliked — pool temperature
