Pia Bella Hotel Review - 5 of 149 Reviews

It's hard to fault the Pia Bella, as it's a 3 star hotel that thinks its four star! After arriving late from the airport we were offered a drink and a snack, and the staff were very welcoming.

Our room was light and airy with a pretty mountain view, and very clean. Breakfast on the terrace in the sunshine was a real treat and the gardens always offered some shade somewhere.

We're not ones to sit by the pool all day, so we walked into Kyrenia a couple of times (hot, dusty and tricky due to the broken pavements) but it was worth it. Kyrenia harbour is lovely and we had lunch by the sea, followed by massive ice creams! We hired a car for the week, so we could explore more of North Cyprus. The mountains were magnificent and much cooler than the coast, and the view from St Hilarion castle are stunning. We were glad we set off really early to Famagusta, as its a long trip, but it did mean we could visit the ruins at Salamis on the way back in the ''relative" cool of later afternoon.

We thought the Pia Bella Hotel an ideal base, close enough to Kyrrenia to explore by foot, but with easy routes out into the countryside. We could also walk to and from local restaurants and bars every night, as we like to eat somewhere different if possible, but realized we had missed out when we tried the hotel restaurant three nights into our holiday - it was really good!

There were plenty of families at the Pia Bella when we went (summer holidays) and all of them looked very relaxed - the sign of a good hotel, I reckon!
