Took a self catering apartment in the Pink Court at oscars for the family to save money on the summer holiday. The 'mini villa' was in need of some renovation and the kitchen was small with only two rings to cook on. Mind you, we still managed to cook meals for four of us on a couple of nights, and having your own fridge was a definate advantage. We stocked up at the supermarket opposite the hotel which was well geared up for tourist needs, from milk to mosquito repellants! It also saved a lot of money on hotel drinks prices, which were very high compared to shop prices.

However, cooking in 30+ degrees of heat was not fun, so we ate in the hotel buffet restaurant one night which was OK, and then tried local restaurants which were much better value. You do need to check the prices at Kyrenia's harbour restaurants, and we found prices much lower in the streets behind it. Take care walking back from Kyrenia in the dark though, the pavements are not good and the drivers worse! We had packed a torch (as we always do) and felt much safer with it. The Mirabell restaurant across the road was lovely - we are lucky that our kids like curry!

The main attraction for the chidlren were the three swimming pools, for me the combination of hotel facilities and self catering freedom and husband actually relaxing for once. had we stayed more than a week we would have hired a car to explore more and find a decent beach and escape from the building work going on all around the hotel area. But for a week the hotel was just fine.
