Merit Park Hotel Review - 15 of 39 Reviews

My other half and I travel frequently in our retired years and we've seen our share of hotels, both bad and good. We both agreed that the Mercure Hotel is one of the top hotels in North Cyprus. I'm not sure why they have received some bad reviews lately but in both our opinions, the reviews were unwarranted (or theyve made some great changes lately). We really enjoyed staying here and thought the service was excellent and the food was some of the best we've had.

We paid for all-inclusive (full board plus), so we ate every meal in the hotel's dining room. Breakfasts and lunches were very good. The evening meals were spectacular. They offer a wide variety of menu items and also serve beer and wine during mealtime. The staff seemed a bit hurried but still gave us excellent service and took time to answer all our questions.

Our room was nice and quite large for a hotel room - and very clean. The balconies are small but fine for sitting out on in the sun. The maids serviced our rooms daily and kept them tidy during our stay. No complaints on the cleanliness at all.

There's a well-maintained pool with an outside bar, but we'd read the prices were a tad high. yes they were. We got in the habit of walking 5 minutes down the road to a small market that stocks cold beverages and purchased ours for a lot less. This is an excellent way to save money here but be prepared to be a bit sneaky, as the hotel doesn't appreciate you bringing beverages to the pool – they want you to purchase them on site, of course. We did it anyway, but were discreet about it and no one was the wiser.

If you want to swim or snorkel, there's an excellent place to do so, as the Mercure hotel has access to the ocean, although it's not exactly a beach. You have to walk down some steps from a wooden deck that holds lounge chairs for sunbathing and you are in the water. The water is beautifully clean and fresh - clear and ideal for snorkeling. If you like to gamble, there's a casino in the basement of the hotel and as long as you are playing, they bring you complimentary beverages, so it's not too expensive. My wife and Ispent about an hour each evening playing slots.

All in all, I'd say this was a great place to spend a few days. I'll recommend the Mercure Hotel to all my friends who travel to Northern Cyprus area and I'm sure we'll be back here as well.
