My husband and I decided to take an impromptu trip to North Cyprus as a last minute treat before I returned back to work in September. We were looking for peace and quiet and a stay away from the hustle and bustle of the package holiday. When we found the Bella View, we thought that it would be perfect.

The hotel certainly didn't disappoint. We were actually pleased that the hotel was a distance away from the nearest towns as it meant that we were guaranteed peace and quiet. I know that some other guests weren't as happy because it meant a long walk or a taxi journey into, for example, the town of Bellapais. Our first impressions of the hotel were that it was set in stunning surroundings with beautiful rustic views.

The hotel is small and has quite a homely feel. We really liked this because we felt like it had the personal touch. There were many reminders around the hotel, including the immaculately clean rooms, that this is a small run business where attention to detail is very important. The staff also made it very clear that they were here to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

The rooms weren't huge and the bathroom only had a shower but to be honest, in the hot weather, we wouldn't have wanted a bath. Despite the size of the room, we couldn't fault its state of repair or cleanliness.

The hotel restaurant provided a good standard and breakfast was cooked to order. We were also pleased that it offered a mixture of Turkish and British dishes. We did decide to eat out most of the time, simply because we loved exploring the nearby towns and experiencing the local traditions and architecture. On the one night we did eat in the restaurant, we were very impressed with the quality of the food and the choice on the a la carte menu.

Another highlight of the trip was the hotel pool and lounging area. It never seemed too crowded. I felt very comfortable sat alone reading my book, knowing that I wouldn't be disturbed by noise from 'Brits abroad.'

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a quiet retreat or to those who are keen to sample the non touristy side of North Cyprus.
