Altinkaya Holiday Village Review - 31 of 50 Reviews

I've just returned from my first ever trip to North Cyprus and cannot believe I haven't been there sooner! It was just stunning- the least spoilt holiday spot I've been too. My husband and I chose to stay at the Altinkaya Holiday Village Resort mostly because of its location. It was situated in the heart of everything, with the beautiful mountains in the backdrop. It took us about half an hour to walk to the large town of Kyrenia (which was well worth a visit!) but there were shops, cafes and bars just ten minutes away from the hotel resort.

The Altinkaya Holiday Village itself had all of the facilities we required, with a very well maintained pool and surrounding area. Although it was too cold to sit and sunbathe, my husband and I both said that if we'd returned in the summer, we'd happily sit around the pool for a day at a time (something we don't always do as we hate being squashed in a sunbed sandwich with other tourists!)

We stayed in the hotel part of the village. Our room was spacious with all of the usual facilities you'd expect but it was a little bit tired. It looked as though the hotel had begun some kind of renovation because the reception area was very well maintained but it obviously hadn't yet spread to the hotel rooms.

We chose to just eat breakfast at the Altinkaya because there were so many wonderful cafes and restaurants locally for lunch and dinner and we much prefer to sample local delights than stick to just one option. The hotel chef offered a great range of breakfast dishes and it was all very fresh, even off-season. The only drawback was the fact that the selection didn't change from day-to-day so it got a bit repetitive.

If staying in the area again, we might consider staying at the Altinkaya Holiday Village Resort again because the prices were reasonable and the outdoor areas were very beautiful.
