Altinkaya Holiday Village Review - 29 of 50 Reviews

Having visited Kyrenia twice before and deciding to invest in a building project my husband dragged us out to take a look towards the end of September. We've stayed in the area before but a friend suggested the Altinkaya resort after being placed their last year by GoNorthCyprus.com. I've never written a review of this type before but thought it might be useful to other people looking for somewhere to stay. So here goes!

Firstly I'll talk about the resort itself. The Altinkaya resort is actually made up of both a main hotel building and a series of bunglaows too. When guests book they get to choose the accommodation type to suit them. I'd say this is one of the nicest and friendliest holiday resorts from a staff perspective. They seemed to always have a smile and couldn't do enough to help out which was refreshing. We stayed in a delux room in the main hotel building and I'd describe this as having all the mod cons. Not overly amazing but very clean and hygienic, with all we needed and wanted.

One thing I did note was that the landscaping is very nice. They obviously pay a lot of attention to that side of things and we often saw people looking after the planted areas. It was towards the end of the season so perhaps the staff had more time on their hands, but there were still quite a few guests floating around on the end of season deals.

Sheets and towels were clean and I felt confident using them (not always the case in some hotels in the area I've found). The pool area was clean and pleasant too – quite a size and there was a pool size bar too which we used a number of times whilst here. Apart from breakfast, which was served as a fresh buffet, I can't comment on the evening meal food as we tended to get a taxi out into town and find different places to eat there. Would we come back? Well yes, but I'm unsure if the attention to detail would be there in the busiest periods.
