Altinkaya Holiday Village Review - 2 of 50 Reviews

The Altinkaya Holiday Village offers cheap and cheerful accommodation, but how cheerful depends on whether you choose a hotel room, a villa and a bungalow. I opted for the hotel, and judging from other guest's comments, I got the best deal. My room was clean, airy and perfectly acceptable for the price. Bungalows can be cramped and scruffy, apparently, unless you get one in the left hand block which have just been renovated.

I stayed B&B, and breakfast was plentiful if not exciting, and the two meals I had in the evening good but not exceptional. Outdoor pool was chilly.Indoor pool was warm but needed cleaning more often. Sauna was small but did the job.

The road up to bellapais runs right through the middle of the village, so crossing from one half to another must be interesting in the summer - OK in the winter.

North Cyprus was fascinating - glad I hired a car as the Altinkaya is halfway up the mountain road. Famagusta was great if a long drive, Kyrenia remarkably quiet (I was out of season mind you), old Lapta a great find. Shame to see so much rubbish everywhere and development seems unaffected by the credit crunch, so how much longer it cn stay a charming country I'm not sure.
