For the price we paid, the Altinkaya hotel was very impressive. There were a few little niggles, but overall it was nice considering the fact that we got a very cheap deal.

The room was immaculately clean and we had a big balcony overlooking the mountains.

The hotel staff were extremely helpful; they always provided service with a smile. From talking to the guests I gathered that most of them had stayed there before. Repeat business means you must be doing something right so I knew I would have a good stay.

The hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere, with no strict rules as I have experienced staying in some of the other hotels in the area. This time we decided to use go north cyprus holiday company as a friend recommended their booking lady Sue as she knew everything there was to know about the area.

The Altinkaya have a very nice swimming pool, as well as a grassed garden with deckchairs that you can lie on for sunbathing. If you want to visit the Kyrenia harbour it's only a 30 minute walk which is nice. You get to see a lot on the way as well as enjoying the great weather. But if you are not the walking type then a free hotel bus runs there three times a day. If you don't feel like getting a bus you can also get a taxi.

There are shops and restaurants close by, all within five and ten minutes of the hotel. If you want to explore more of the country, you can rent a car across the street from the hotel.

ROOM TIP: The rooms at the front of the hotel overlook the swimming pool and the gardens. The rooms at the back of the hotel do not have much of a view other than grass and mountains.
