Ship Inn Hotel Review - 8 of 40 Reviews

We stayed at the Ship Inn recently at the start of the busy season as a birthday surprise. We purchased full board, which we realized was a mistake. The full board menu quickly became boring, as it was very repetitive and also there wasn't much food on the plate. I'm not kidding when I say that the entrée was closer to what an appetizer would be as far as quantity. Add the lack of substance to the fact that the same menu was served over and over and it became apparent that the full board option was not a good value. We ended up spending a lot of extra money ordering snacks between meals to fill us up, as the lunches and dinners on the full board menu did not. My advice to anyone planning to stay here is to skip the full board menu and eat lunches and dinners out. You'll come out better in the long run plus will have a better variety of options. There are some other lovely places in Northern Cyprus to stay as an alternative.

As far as drink prices, they are extremely overpriced here, so the best option for drinking alcoholic beverages is to go somewhere else or else drink local north cyprus beer and wine. The local beverages are relatively inexpensive but imported will cost you big bucks. The hotel does not allow you to bring your own liquor into the rooms either, which is irritating to me. I feel like if I'm paying for the room, I should be able to bring what I want, but they informed me it is against their rules to bring in outside liquor to my room.

One other complaint I have is that we rented a car through the Ship Inn hotel one day in order to do some sightseeing but had some trouble with it and the hotel did not offer us a refund or reduction in price, even though we had to wait for repairs and didn't get to use it for the full time.

We did see a few positives to this hotel, however. The pool for one was totally pristine. We enjoyed the time we spent there, as it's very peaceful and the water very clear and clean. There were plenty of loungers also, and plenty of space in between for privacy. Also, we liked our room very much. The room was clean and everything was in good working order. The cleaning staff kept our room tidy during our entire stay. Also the majority of the hotel's staff was polite and very friendly, so we appreciated their hospitality very much. It's just that the negatives outweighed the positives, so although we might stay here again or might recommend it to others (because of the cleanliness of the rooms, which is lacking in some hotels), we will make sure to inform everyone that the full board is not a good value and that they should be prepared to pay through the nose for drinks or else consume local beverages.
