Ship Inn Hotel Review - 11 of 40 Reviews

Here's what we thought about our recent holiday booked through gonorthcyprus.com holiday company and their booking advisor Sue. We found them online and to be honest, we saved a lot of time and hassle going through a company that knew the area and the holiday insustry well. We went to the Ship Inn last month for an early holiday trip. We were advised to opt for a room at the rear of the hotel so we could get a nice view of the olive orchards behind the building. We did so, and were not disappointed - there's something very relaxing about watching the locals picking their own olives against a backdrop of the Kyrenian mountains. If you're thinking of staying at the Ship too, it's definitely worth seeing if you can get a room at the back! That's a top tip!

Food at the hotel is generally very good. Breakfast in particular was a high-point, with a vast selection of freshly cooked foods along with the usual staples of cereal and yoghurt etc. It's not very cheap though, and the hotel do ask you not to bring any food purchased outside into the hotel. It's up to you whether you follow this instruction or not, but if you do as they ask you might be in for an expensive visit!

The staff, as we've come to expect from the Cypriots, are brilliant. They were very knowledgeable regarding the local tourist spots and more than willing to give genuine, honest advice on where we should go to avoid paying the prices at the bar in the hotel. The cleaners, for their part, didn't ever bother us whilst we were resting but managed to tidy our room effectively, so kudos to them for that.

One minor negative point is the location. In order to see most of the “must-see” attractions (the harbour, for example) you'll probably need to rent a vehicle for your stay. We rented a car, and it was absolutely worth the relatively minor cost we incurred as a result- especially given the significantly lower fuel costs enjoyed by most of Northern Cyprus.
