This is a hotel review for Ship Inn Hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus
“The Ship Inn Hotel”
The Ship Inn may sound like a pub, but behind its mock Tudor facade is a really nice hotel! We met guests who have stayed there year after year, always a good sign. The bar was also popular with ex-pats, so it was always lively.
Our room had been refurbished last year and was kept tidy and clean, with a good bathroom, decent balcony and nice new beds. We used the air con a lot because if you opened the windows for too long, the mosquitos found their way in! Next time we will take some plug-ins against the little biters.
The staff were always helpful, and reception gave us great ideas for things to do, etc. You get towels provided by the pool, which is very clean and had plenty of room for everyone despite the hotel being quite busy.
The food was good, with lots of good meat courses on the menu, although the fish was all in sauces and not just plain grilled like in the local restaurants. The Mexican food was much better value, and the fajitas were gorgeous! The self-service desserts were the real star, lots of cream cakes and sweet puddings. The pool bar pizzas were lovely too. Breakfast was OK and as we usually only eat cereal anyway, the lack of eggs and bacon didn't bother us!
We felt The Ship Inn gave us great value for money, and North Cyprus was good value generally as the Turkish lira bought us more than the Euro would have in south Cyprus.
Liked — Mexican food
Disliked — mosquitoes
