Salamis Bay Conti Hotel Review - 22 of 44 Reviews

As much as I hate to subscribe to the stereotype that says that people will only bother to leave reviews in the event of a negative experience, I have just returned from Cyprus after a disappointing two-week stay and I feel a little compelled to make note of it, if not to prevent people from taking the same trip in future, then at least to spur the managers of the Salamis Bay to bring about some needed changes in their operation in order to bring it up to scratch. Our first impressions of the hotel were actually very positive! We were treated immediately to the sight of the spectacular entrance, which is fully decked out in marble, and checking in was absolutely painless. Things went quickly downhill from here. Our room, although very clean, was absolutely out of place in a hotel of this alleged calibre. It was incredibly basic, and in real need of updating if they're going to continue charging their current nightly tariff. The flat screen TV was really very small and not particularly new by the look of it, the taps were getting rusty and the shower had some mildew issues which is not ideal to say the least.

The restaurant was massively overcrowded, and the food was not refreshed often enough to keep it at a high enough temperature for me. We were actually a little concerned from this standpoint that keep food at such a luke warm temperature for so long could lead to issues but luckily we didn't find that was the case. The waiting staff barely gave us chance to finish our food before snatching the plates away and there was a constant air of them waiting for us to hurry up and leave so that they could give the table to someone else.

We've been to five star hotels before, and this hotel cannot be considered to be in the same league as them. In fact I would have still been miffed if I had booked this expecting a proper four-star experience. It was a relatively average to poor visit really and thatb was a shame as the potential is certainly there. I will not be returning unless I hear some major changes have been made.
