This is a hotel review for Rose Gardens Hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus
“Rose Gardens is tidy and well run”
We booked at week at the Rose Gardens through the Go North Cyprus website, and our only regret is that we didn't book for a fortnight. After a very quick check in we were taken to your room in the new block. Spacious, spotless, loads of storage, very well equipped and with a great balcony overlooking the pool, our first impressions were brilliant, and it just kept getting better. We slept like logs in the comfy beds complete with duvet, and the kettle, hairdryer etc were welcome additions. There is no noise at nights and every couple of days our towels and bedding were changed.
We arrived quite late so after dumping our bags headed down to the restaurant for a delicious meal and a few ice cold Efes. The bar area got quite busy and we got talking to quite a few guests and discovered the vast majority were return visitors. This speaks volumes for the quality of a hotel in my book. Quiz night was Wednesday was great fun and as keen quizzers in the UK we were impressed with the standard of questions and the way it was planned.
While we had several meals at the hotel this was our first visit here so we also wandered into the village and ate out most nights. There are some excellent restaurants here and once satisfied it was nice to return to the hotel for a few nightcaps. We were expecting a breakfast buffet and were very impressed that it was cooked to order. You can have this in the restaurant or on the terrace overlooking the pool. This is in the sun all day long and was lovely in the mornings.
We hired a car for 3 days and got out and about.
Our favourite trip was the walled city of Famagusta. We also wanted to visit Kyrenia and caught the dolmus bus. Although its touristy its a lovely city and the harbour is gorgeous. We also caught the dolmus to the capital Nicosia, and really enjoyed that. To be honest, everything worth seeing is on the Turkish side but you can go through the Girne gate to see the Greek side of the city if you want.
We enjoy an evening stroll and had been told by Sue at Go North Cyprus that you had to walk or get a taxi into the village if you wanted to eat out. We really enjoyed our stay here and we will certainly stay again. We are looking at going back in 2 years when all the improvements have finished so we can see the before and after.
