This is a hotel review for Rocks Hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus
“Business or pleasure?”
The Rocks is a hotel with a bit of an identity crises - is it for businessmen or tourists? (Or gamblers, come to that?) We found that it had the spotlessly clean rooms and standards of a business hotel, the well maintained pool and outdoor spaces of a tourist hotel (which is a good thing in the sunny TRNC spring), but the prices of a gambling hotel for drinks! Bar prices were very high, especially as we could walk out the door to a local bar or shop and get beers for a fraction of the price.
Otherwise, the Rocks Hotel is fine; good location, nice staff, decent bedroom and bathroom, and buffet breakfast big enough so you really didn't need much for lunch at all. Pool is a good size so you can actually swim in it and most of the time we had it to ourselves, as business guests would have been working, or meeting, or whatever.
There are plenty of great restaurants around the hotel, including the famous kebabs at Niazi's, but we found it to be over-hyped, and decidedly unfriendly the night we went. We got better food, cheaper (and faster) at smaller restaurants we just wandered into - be brave and try them!
Liked — smart clean hotel
Disliked — bar prices
