Rocks Hotel Review - 29 of 62 Reviews

I want to write a fair and balanced review of this North Cyprus hotel, but to be honest it's quite likely that my opinion has been coloured significantly by the poor service we received. Bearing that in mind:

We were unable to move directly into our rooms upon arrival, which wasn't a great start to proceedings. We'd been up since the crack of dawn to get to the airport on time and had expected the chance to relax, but instead we had a long wait in the reception whilst our rooms (which should have been ready on our arrival) were cleaned and made ready. After we finally got into the rooms, nearly an hour later, we were greeted by a dusty claustrophobic atmosphere and the overriding smell of smoke. We had booked a non-smoking room, but when we complained we were argued with by the receptionist and the manager, who said he was fully booked and we'd have to stay put.

Outside the rooms (and away from the frankly unfriendly staff) it was largely a different story. The hotel's restaurant and cafe both serve delicious, fresh food and drinks and the pool area is of a good size and kept perfectly clean. The décor is also far more impressive in the communal areas- we felt this was a bit misleading given the state of the actual accommodation, but it was nice to have somewhere to relax that was comfortable and aesthetically pleasing.

We only had a short stay at the Rocks in Northern Cyprus, and although it was a very nice hotel for the most part, our enjoyment was hampered by poor customer service and a less than perfect set of rooms. The location felt secluded, but was near enough to civilisation to make taxis unnecessary for the most part. We would recommend visiting there, but only if the hotel undergoes a change of management.

Liked — restaurants and pool area
Disliked — staff were poor and on occassion, rude.
