The Rocks is a great hotel if you want to be right in the middle of Kyrenia town. From the hotel its an easy walk down to the harbour and to the shops and sights.

The Rocks is a smart international-style hotel that seems to have a lot of business conferences and meetings, so as a 'tourist' you have the pool pretty much to yourself until after lunch. . The upside of this is that the staff have little to do during the day and are really helpful and attentive! This also means the hotel bars are quiet too, but the town bars are always lively if you want a night out.

The downside of being right in the middle of Kyrenia is the traffic noise which goes on most of the night. The first night our (booked) sea view room was not ready, so we overlooked the road and the noise was pretty loud, esp from car stereos. We found the best cure was to shut the windows and turn on the air con! Next day we were moved to our sea view room which was much nicer, very roomy, good bathroom and fresh towels every day, a real treat. And quiet.

Our half board deal was well worth it, with excellent breakfasts that meant we rarely needed much for lunch, and we had a good choice in the hotel buffet restaurant in the evening. Food wasn't always really hot, but that often happens in Med countries. We also tried the Chinese restaurant in the hotel, which was good, with fast service. We did go out one night to the famous Niazi;s kebab restaurant, but we had to wait ages for our food and felt that we were not as welcome as the locals, despite it being almost the tourist season.
