We had a lovely holiday at the Pia Bella hotel, and very much enjoyed our first visit to North Cyprus. The hotel staff made us feel very welcome, and if you ever had a problem, a young lady would come around at breakfast and sort it out. We had a dripping tap in our bathroom, and it was fixed within just a few hours, which I though was impressive. The staff were very happy to help us with booking taxis, as many drivers spoke only a little English.

Our room was very clean, and we had a nice view of the mountains, although some in our group had rooms overlooking the car park instead. The hotel swimming pool was very clean and I enjoyed swimming every day, although some ladies thought the water too cold. Breakfast was good and plenty of it, which is part of the holiday for me.

My biggest surprise at the Pia Bella was that the evening meals in the hotel were about the same price as eating out, as often hotels are much more expensive. Other hotel restaurants we looked at in Kyrenia were more pricey.

It is possible to walk into Kyrenia from the Pia Bella hotel, and I gather the pavements are much better maintained than they used to be, but my wife and I preferred a taxi to the 15 minute walk. There is not very much to see or do around the Pia Bella hotel itself. The old harbour area in Kyrenia is quite small, but the restaurants serve nice coffee and cakes in the morning, a good lunch and evening meals too. We had one dinner up on the rooftops, which was scenic but rather windy.

In summary, the Pia Bella was a very well-run hotel that had good staff who cared about the comfort of their guests, and we enjoyed our spring break in the Cyprus sunshine all the more for that.
