Palm Beach Hotel Review - 10 of 41 Reviews

We made our first, tentative visit to the new Palm Beach Hotel last month. Having been keen and loyal patrons of the first Palm Beach, we were genuinely concerned that the hotel we'd come to love so much would be changed beyond recognition. So anxious were we in fact, that at one point we were just a phonecall away from cancelling our reservation and trying to find a new haunt for our times in Cyprus- luckily we over came that small fit of mania and eventually arrived safe and sound.

Some of our fears were assuaged as soon as we set foot in the new hotel- clearly, the overhaul had been significant but less severe than we'd expected and- to our delight- it appeared they had at least kept some of the staff around. The workers at the Palm Beach were always a large part of the reason we enjoyed our time there so much and sure enough we found them in their usual friendly, talkative mood. Even we (being as stuck in our ways and fearful of change as we are) have to admit that the rejuvenation of the décor and the fittings has been a success. In retrospect, the old Palm Beach was bordering on looking aged on our last visit, but it now looks like a new resort all together. The new restaurant is nicely set out and the food there is incredible! It's been a long while since I ate four different plates of food for so many consecutive evenings.

Bar prices are obviously a little steeper than we're used to in the UK, but only because the hotel in question is 5 star, and with that in mind they're actually much as you'd expect. Service is pretty much flawless, although the bar staff tend to speak a little less english than the reception staff for example so it can take a few attempts to make yourselves understood initially. We were ultimately very satisfied (and relieved) with our trip and it is very pleasing to know that the place where so many of our happy memories are located hasn't disappeared completely.
