This is a hotel review for Oscar Resort Hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus
“Very friendly staff, private beach, great food and near town”
Plus: We chose a split level club gallery room which was ideal for us as we didn't have the feeling that we were 'stuck in a bedroom' as we often like to have coffee or tea in our room and potter about. (you can ask for a kettle it's part of the service) Beds were obviously new and extremely comforatable, great pillows, TV & airco on both floors.
We have never met such a friendly team of staff, also in the restuarant.
Vuni Palace and Oscar make up one resort and this meant that there were Always sun beds: 2 man made beaches, 2 platforms in the sea and two parts up high with ample room. What a relief.
Hotel is near town. We walked a few times.
Great pools.
Neg: Our bathroom was tiny and definitely not 4 star. Had to open the door fully to get to the loo. marble of the sink was old and looked 'stuck together' and the water didn't run away in the shower. We had trouble with ants in the fridge and bathroom. The fridge was warm on the outside and not very cold in the inside.
The maids talked VERY loudly in the corridors and even chapped the door at 8.00 when we had just gotten up. Twice our room hadn't been cleaned due to this.
The grounds were very poorly kept. Weeds everywhere, bit of plastic pipes, (also the view from our balcony) broken sunbeds and rubbish. In needed to go to the toilet fast during our walk through the gardens in the evening. I went to one by the pool with the slides. It was filthy, smelly, wet and no toilet paper. We and other guests talked about it. This down rates the resort. It really is a 3 star.
The free WIFI was only in the lobby which got very crowded after dinner. The quality was very poor. I only mean that I wanted to do things like get into my email to check bookings and do the online check-in for our flights but it was virtually impossible. We didn't buy WIFI for the room due to reviews = for 1 device and very poor signal.
Liked — Location, food and service & great beds
Disliked — Bathroom, ants, poorly kept grounds, no wifi
