Oscar Resort Hotel Review - 20 of 79 Reviews

Upon choosing to book a week at the Oscar Resort this August, my husband and I were so excited about how smart it looked and how much it had to offer for our young children. However, on arrival, it came clear that the hotel wasn't going to live up to our expectations. Perhaps this was our fault for being too over enthusiastic but we just felt that 4 star resort should offer more.

The hotel did have a lot of facilities: the pools were amazing, as was the hotel's beach. We were also lucky to have a poolside room which made it very convenient with the kids. The room was spacious and had everything we needed but it was a little run down. This is something we felt about the whole hotel. It seems that they are wallowing in past glory and not realised that it is about time the place needed a makeover. It is clear that originally the place would've been gorgeous but obviously if this is not maintained it will not last forever. Most of the hotel just looked a bit drab and needed a lick or two of paint. In the hotel owner's defence, they clearly are trying to renovate because whilst we were there, there was a lot of building work going on. This as quite distracting and also made us wary of letting our children play in certain areas.

The food at the hotel was basic and offered little choice. It was, however, fresh and we were confident that it was prepared in a clean environment.

The location of the resort was secluded and therefore very peaceful. With so many amenities it isn't really necessary to leave the complex. However, if you are hoping to explore the local town (which we did try) you will find that it is quite a trek from the hotel. In fact, there aren't any shops etc near the resort.

Had the hotel been advertised as a 3 star then perhaps we wouldn't have been so disappointed. It was well equipped and clean but just needed some attention.
