We booked an off-peak stay in North Cyprus to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday. She's due to move out next month so we wanted something for a final family holiday. We had a tight budget so had to go for a smaller, less commercial hotel and we had our doubts to begin with. I can't explain how wrong we were! The Onar Holiday Village was absolutely excellent! I would recommend it to anyone I know going on holiday to North Cyprus.

We booked one of the holiday villas through Sue- she recommended a villa as it would be more spacious,and it was! The master bedroom was a really good size and the facilities were spot on. My daughter stayed in the living room which converted in a bedroom (she's an early riser so didn't really mind!) and she said she was perfectly comfortable.

We visited the indoor pool a couple of times during our stay: it was a fair size and was very clean. We also really enjoyed the spa facilities- jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. My husband stayed in the bar area until quite late on a couple of occasions and he said that the hotel staff were always keen to chat and seemed genuinely interested in what he had to say.

There were two things which impressed us the most about the Onar Village. Firstly the beautiful, scenic mountains which made the backdrop to the village and secondly how clean the villas and rest of the hotel were. The only downside to it was the fact that the nearest town, Kyrenia, was quite far away. We ended up hiring a car as we found that we were often out and about, sight-seeing or eating! It was great because the hotel staff sorted it all out for us! Kyrenia was just stunning. It is steeped in history but also has contemporary restaurants and bars
