This is a hotel review for Olive Tree Hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus
“Not good in winter”
This resort hotel must be very attractive in the summer, with its swim-up pool bar and sunny terraces, but in winter we found it to be decidedly unattractive despite the good views. Our first bungalow looked lovely from the outside, but inside it was damp, dirty and the air con/heating unit did not work. We asked to be moved and our second bungalow was better, but not by much.
The evening food, a buffet, was neither good or hot, too much like motorway services catering for our tastes. Luckily, we had a hire car and so drove to eat in Catalkoy and Kyrenia, where the general standard of food was much better.
We got the feeling that this hotel had been much better once upon a time, and standards had slipped. (The casino probably keeps it afloat.) Shame, as the location was great, the staff tried their best to make us feel welcome, and we loved exploring North Cyprus.
