Mountain View Hotel Review - 6 of 27 Reviews

Read lots of reviews recently that have praised this hotel highly, but on my holiday I struggled to find much to write home about. The hotel doesn't look very welcoming to start with, a blocky frontage. Admittedly the view from the pool area of the mountains is nicer, but you have to be inside the hotel to see it. Pool itself is rather dull and feels barren, despite the 'feature' columns along the side that look a bit daft. Pool bar is OK but not inspiring. With loads of palm trees and grass, but little overall planning, the grounds felt a bit like a golf course, but without the action.

Lobby is dull brown, a theme continued throughout. Our room was actually quite good, clean and tidy, and with efficient air conditioning, essential in that heat. We had to ask for a kettle for tea and coffee, but I gather this is usual in North Cyprus hotels.

Food was OK but again rather uninspired, and like many guests, we ate out most evenings for a bit of variety. I was glad we hired a car, as the hotel is not near much, and the bus service is along the dusty main road.

Having said all that, the hotel is only a 3 star, and the staff work hard to rise above that rating. However, next time I'll book a 5 star for a better location and nicer surroundings.
