This is a hotel review for Merit Crystal Cove Hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus
“Comfortable winter break”
We booked the Merit Crystal Cove for a short winter break after staying with friends in Nicosia. The hotel is very smart and international in feel, but it was only after we had booked in that we realised that it is a conference hotel during the winter. The delegates were not around during the day, so the hotel was nice and quiet, but the bars got very busy at night after their meals. This didn't bother us much, although we did hear some noise one night as people in neighbouring rooms returned from late-night gambling in the casino. As a result, service standards slipped when the delegates were out of their conference rooms, but most of the time it was lovely, as we had the pool and lobby areas much to ourselves.
We chatted with the receptionist who said that during the summer the hotel was a mix of tourists and conferences, but in the winter most of their guests were conference / business people.
We did not swim in the pool or from the beach, as the water was too cold for us, but there were some people diving still, which would have been fun had I been 20 years younger!
For us, the hotel was ideal as it was comfortable, with good facilities and empty during the day. Had we stayed longer, we would have tried the local restaurants, buM the hotel restaurant was so good, we didn't need to venture out.
Liked — smart hotel, quiet during day
Disliked — noisy other guests
