Merit Crystal Cove Hotel Review - 1 of 51 Reviews

My family went for a week at the Merit Cove in June, and it was really an amazing hotel, painted bright colours and with an odd shape outside, but inside its very smart and feels like a real 5 star hotel. My room was big, with a big satellite tv, and a door through to Mum and Dad which was like having your own room but felt safer.

The swimming pool was really warm, with lots of beds around it but it does get really hot in the sun. there wasn't much shade if you didn't get an umbrella to sit under. I really liked swimming in the sea off the rocks at the end of the hotel grounds, and there was decking down so it wasn't a climb down like in Greek islands.

Breakfast was great, with lots of stuff you don't get in England like cheese and meat and fruit. I ate loads every morning! Dinner was fun as there was plenty to choose from even if you didnt like turkish food. Our family like to eat somewhere different some nights, so we went into the town of Kyrenia by taxi and had dinner in the harbour area, which is really busy. The waiters were really cute here and one gave me free Cokes 'cos I couldn't drink beer or wine - cool! We also had our lunch for three days at local taverns, and my favourites were Turkish pizza, which had loads of meat on it, mezes which are like lots of little dishes, and kebabs which are sooo much better than at home, and massive!

There was live music most nights at the hotel but it was not very good,so I surfed or listened to my iPod instead. The staff at the hotel were really nice and friendly to me, as there were not many English families staying. I was too young to go into the casino, but Dad said it looked pretty amazing if you liked losing all your money!!!
