Kaya Artemis Resort Hotel Review - 4 of 16 Reviews

I was really looking forward to staying at the Kaya Artemis - it just looked so OTT, we had to go! We (me + girlfriend) tagged two extra nights at the Artemis on the end of a four-day break at my parent's apartment near Kyrenia, so we wanted a bit of luxury and fun, as I know North Cyprus quite well.

Walking into the hotel grounds is like stepping into an ancient Greece theme park, but without the accuracy! It's full of statues here, fountains there, sparcely populated with staff and conference delegates skipping their seminars.

The inside pool was nice and warm, and the beach would have been great if the weather had been warmer. The site is quite open, so you do need to find a spot out of the wind to fully enjoy any winter/spring sunshine. Food was OK if not quite 5 star, so we ate out the second night as I knew better places to eat in North Cyprus than here.

Of course the heart of the Artemis is the casino, which has Las Vegas aspirations and a clientelle intent on spending a many hours as possible risking their money there. We just sat back and enjoyed tthe whole thing as spectators!

Our room was nice, heating worked (thank goodness) but was noisy because of the massive construction sites either side of the hotel - cranes, mixers, diggers, the lot. This area is undergoing massive development, and even the Artemis' mock temple seemed dwarfed by it all (no mean achievement).

The Kaya Artemis is a fun place to stay if you like the sun/pool/casino lifestyle, and in the summer I know lots of locals go for the day to enjoy the facilities, which I think is probably the best deal. I prefer somewhere with less flashy architecture and a bit more soul. Fun it is, real North Cyprus it ain't.
